Expensive nightly stay in comparison with hotels of a similar standing. No little extras such as biscuits with the tea/coffee in the room, paper coasters in the room to protect the furniture. We have had these in similar hotels.

Comfy beds, decent sized room, friendly staff, great views.

The extra payment for parking facilities but do realise that most parking in cities is at a premium

The location was excellent for our travel purposes and within walking distance of the city facilities.

The rooms can be quite pricey. The hotel car park is £19 per day, or £14 if paid at reception. We parked in the NCP car park next door (£6.45 for 24 hours).

The hotel is only a 5 minute walk over the river into the centre of Durham, but is set in a quiet location. We had a great stay here. We liked the standard of the room which was modern, clean, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was the best we've had in a while in a hotel. It's a buffet, and you can order extra items such as poached eggs. The buffet itself gave a large choice of hot and cold food. Both the food and drinks on offer were of high quality.

Only 1 lift operating. No bar fridge in room, you had to go out to lift foyer for water and ice. Complimentary teas, hot chocolate etc not replenished. The heavy banging of closing doors, either room or service doors, vibrated the walls, which were very disturbing.

The staff, location and view were excellent.

Unimpressive shower, bland and slightly overpriced restaurant food, no coffee maker or biscuits in room!

Location, view, comfortable (though slightly tired looking) room, very good breakfast and bar food, mostly excellent staff.

The parking cost was £14 per day When booking the room, I was offered an upgrade. When we arrived, we went to our room 210, and it was a standard room that was disgusting. The chair in the room was dirty and tired looking. The bathroom glass screen didn't stay in the position and was constantly swinging open, mark all over the walls, and the headboard was flaking faux leather all over the bed. I went back to reception, and she stated that the room was awaiting modernising, I was offered my upgraded at that point, room 415. When I went to the second room, it was covered in dust, but it was 100% better than the first room. The spa was an absolute disgrace. As it was a Saturday evening, I thought that it might be a little quieter. As when got to the pool. The pool side was covered with empty plastic glasses and paper cups all over, no water at the poolside, and two blokes sat with their phones out. The women's changing rooms had litter in the showers and disused sanitary applicants in the toilets, one changing cubicle. There was also a lift out, which meant only one lift in use the whole time we were there.

The location, 5 minutes from town centre The second room was modern.

We didn't use their car park. We used the NCP car next door as it was half price.

The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel was conveniently located for city centre with beautiful views of the river. Would definitely book this hotel again.

The temperature in the room made it very difficult to sleep. I dont know what happens to rhe air con on a night but we weren't able to turn it up properly to cool down the room. We were soaked in sweat and far too hot. The beds in the Spa are like sitting on concrete. I wished they'd invest in some decent ones. They're wooden boards with a very very thin layer of rubber. We were in the spa for 4 hours and not once did anyone come round with a mop to mop the floor. It was so slippy even with my own flip flops on with good grip. There was signs saying slippy floor but I think this is an accident waiting to happen as I saw several people slipping. The jacuzzi chlorine was far too strong that we had to get out. Our eyes were bright red and watering. I started coughing at one point. This also needs checking. Like I said I 4 hours we saw nobody pool side which was alarming. The jacuzzi was also dirty covered in foam from people's creams etc and didn't smell very pleasant. This should be checked whilst in operation. We mentioned it to staff in the spa but they didnt seem bothered. Ive been to this hotel a few times but this was the spa experience wasn't great then the heat in the room during the night.

The location of the hotel is brilliant. Walking distance to and from everything is a short walk. The hotel staff are really helpful and friendly.
