How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe stayed at Shaw House as a family of five and overall had a very good experience. The apartment is spacious, clean, and in a fantastic location — just a short walk from Hyde Park, Regent Street, and Oxford Street, with a Tesco supermarket nearby. The complimentary upgrade to a 4-bedroom unit made our stay much more comfortable and excellent value for money. Beds are big and very comfortable with soft bedding, and both we and the kids slept really well. The portable air conditioning worked great (five units in total), and we also appreciated being able to store luggage in the lobby.
On the downside, one of the bathrooms had a smell, which was only partly fixed after a few days, and the facilities listing wasn’t fully accurate (no dryer, though drying racks were provided). A few basic supplies were also missing at first but later brought in. Still, with its comfort, helpful staff, and excellent location, Shaw House made for a pleasant family stay.

Absolute Cheaters…. We booked a two bedroom apartment. We had a confirmation. Then one day before it was cancelled and I was told by the apartment owners I had to pay 1000 pounds more for the same booking…ridiculous and unfair I called booking.com and they said rebook and a refund will be processed . I immediately rebooked a two bedroom with the same property on booking.com. I haven’t got a refund and they put me in a four bedrooom instead of a two bedroom which was not required. Really slimy way of handling a customer - very disappointing

1. Cleanest 2. Totally old furniture 3. No cleaning service, only by order and it coats 70 £ 4. Not all the staff working, so many electric switches no body knows what it’s belong to!, lights just decorating not working. 5. No proficiently in solving problems. 6. No responding for customer needs, not even the faults happening during a customer staying (we face an electrical issue, the staff came and advise to do not switch on the switch, till next day that the electrician come. No one shows since that day.

The washer and dryer situation wasn’t explained so we struggled to figure out the best way to go about washing our families clothing and getting it dried in a timely manner. Figured out a method but would have liked some instruction. To be fair, when we arrived there was 3 groups checking in at same time and I appreciated how helpful the staff was with getting our luggage up to our room.

Everything, first the elevator with tow sliding very heavy doors to open and close , the apartment was dark, smelly and with old furniture, with portable AC in every room that you have to keep the windows open for the AC tube that is sticking out, and when you turn the AC off water came out of it in the entire living room ,,horrible place never coming back

Verified reviewIt was in a very accessible area in the middle of either side of the main tourist areas we were interested in seeing. It was relatively quiet allowing for decent sleeps and being able to reset away from everything but a short walk to the action. Staff were very very helpful. Well priced
A few finishes required updating but that didn’t affect our stay. It’s probably not as polished as a some more expensive accommodation but it really doesn’t matter because it has space and is comfortable. Because it’s in a more pucker area you won’t find cheap eateries but that’s not a big deal because you’re walking everywhere anyway and can pick up what you need along the way.
