Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing really, our hosts were friendly but quite elderly and I felt a little uncomfortable having them serve us breakfast when really they deserved being served breakfast by me instead.
Upgraded to twin room with en-suite with no fuss, shower was good and twin room was enormous.

United KingdomLocation somewhat off beaten track - literally. Gate has to be opened. Remember to shut it to keep dog in and deer out. Bathroom tiny.
Breakfast was good. The farm is a lovely 1600's building with characterful period furniture. Host and hostess were wonderful. Bedroom was spacious with period fireplace.

United KingdomNot ideal to have to share a bathroom when elderly and getting up frequently during the night! Not easy to be sufficiently quiet to avoid disturbing other guests.
Excellent breakfast, comfortable room, welcoming hosts. Amazing house, huge oak beams, full of fascinating items. Beautiful gardens. Lovely countryside full of birds and animals.

Amazing place to stay, beautiful, quaint, full of family history, the hosts were fabulous, friendly, welcoming to their and old home. This place is not for the whitewashed perfect modern house. It is absolutely beautiful and has an abundance of history the building and garden are stunning. Thank you for sharing your home with people wanting to stay ❤️ home cooked breakfast went down a treat

United KingdomI didn't have enough time to explore and have breakfast. X
The house is very rustic which l liked , but unfortunately it was a temporary stop before travelling on to Stansted Airport. The host was very lovely. If l needed a stop off again l would chose this place. It is good value for money.

South AfricaI travelled quite a distance to stay here for a peaceful night in the country. Unfortunately when I arrived, the property was locked up and nobody was present. Waited two hours - could not get hold of owner on telephone after repeated calls. Had to find another place at short notice. Bumped into owner as I was leaving and they were arriving. Apparently a medical appointment with which I sympathise but still - why accept bookings then. Scant apology. They offered to get room ready if I waited but I had already committed to another place. My evening appointments ruined, needed to find expensive alternative accommodation 20 miles away and unnecessary stress. Disaster for me

United KingdomI happen to be very tall, and the antique bed (in their smallest room) was a little too short for me. I think most people would have had no issue with it, as it was otherwise comfortable. The fried breakfast was very tasty indeed but a little oily to how I generally cook - its a subjective thing. As I was the only guest staying that overnight, I was all alone for morning breakfast and the host had her family visiting, so I felt unattended. I would have liked a couple of extra slices of that extra toast to sample her jam-preserves. The family was very nice though and they came out to see my old Triumph motor-car when I left. Just by way of advice ; dine before you check in. I visited on a Sunday, overnight to bank-holiday Monday. I found the x3 local pubs each stopped serving food early on Sunday evening. This wonderful country farmhouse location is a fair way to a sizeable town for a meal.
A very old and beautiful farmhouse bed & breakfast. Wonderfully quiet away from any busy road. With its beautiful garden, and fascinating interior decor - I imagine many tourists would be bewitched with the Englishness. The stay was good value and the English fired breakfast with home-made granary bread was very tasty indeed. Home made jam preserves too ! - just what I needed for a day out at an Medieval jousting festival weekend at conveniently-nearby Hedingham Castle. I travel by classic open-top car to these events, and so it was great to know the car was secure, parked overnight in their gated garden away from any passers by (always a little worrying when parked in a strange town's restaurant or hotel car-park).
