Very noisy outside the hotel. Tourists and locals out for drinks etc. We were woken up a few times during the night and early morning from staff coming into work etc. Bring your ear plugs!

Lovely old hotel. Quaint rooms, plenty of history. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is excellent.

    Nothing.

Beautiful room with pleasant view of park. Relaxed and friendly staff, and excellent breakfast. Central position ideal for train station and exploring Buxton. I've stayed at the Old Hall a few times previously (although not for a few years)and never been disappointed with anything.

We were told our accommodation would be away from event, we were still overlooking event in park. Whilst our accommodation was spacious, it was very tired and felt like we were in staff accommodation. New carpet, coat of paint and a deeper clean would really change the space and make it perfect for family or groups. Not a glimpse of luxury, but fantastic space.

Central location was great, staff informed after booking of event taking place on doorstep with alternative parking suggestions. Wonderful breakfast.

Angle of shower head wrong - water went all over the bathroom! That's it!

Bed very comfortable. Quiet at night despite being so central. Amazing breakfast. Fantastic history to the hotel - the manager told us all about it (Mary Queen of Scots stayed here). Really charming place. Wifi brilliant. Friendly staff. Nice bar and dinner delicious and huge portions. Clean room. Powerful shower. Very dog-friendly.

A comfortable, well located hotel with a relaxed feel and echoes of history and class.

Over the years things have changed - for instance the baths have been replaced by showers, the 'music room' with usable piano now a rather twee tea room. Bedroom furnishings - now bleak blinds where previously curtains hung which matched the hotel's decor and atmosphere. Breakfasts - although still good, not as 'complete' - little individual pots of preserves now replaced by large communal bowls, no fruit basket etc... Oh, and very small plates for toast.

We've stayed at The Old Hall Hotel many times because of it's location and relaxed and not too formal atmosphere.

Check-in took 20 minutes. The receptionist was dilatory in dealing with a couple in front of us and did not even acknowledge that we had been waiting for a long time: not a good welcome. Breakfast was sub-Premier Inn standard: no fresh fruit salad or pastries.

Great room and bathroom. Excellent location. We were in Buxton to attend events in the festival. Parking was available outside the hotel, and everything was in close walking distance.

Could use a bit of paint and updating but I’m sure an old building always needs something.

Faded glory but it’s clean and centrally located. Do not book if you have any mobility concerns! So many steps up and down to get to a room.

Given we had a partially disabled 85yo, the lift was very difficult to use due to it seldom being available, without one of our party going to find it on another floor and bring the lift down/ up. This caused great delays and anxiety for us. On the morning of departure the cleaning staff appeared to commandeer the lift for transporting bedsheets, and were quite unfriendly and uncooperative when we discussed them making the lift available so we could depart! The lift could really do with an upgrade.

location was perfect, room was good sized, including good sized bed, altho the 2nd room we had booked was much smaller (despite same price). Breakfast was good
