Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNo lift and definitely getting older , but it’s a listed building and I knew before going, but if stairs are a problem for you beware. We were on the top floor, but only two flights, and not really a problem for us, just be aware.
Great location, large room/bathroom, nice sitting area, numerous quiet sitting areas throughout the downstairs, both outside and inside, which we used daily. Location next to the Abbey gives it views from several aspects.

United KingdomWe loved everything
Recently fully renovated in a very quirky style. Beautiful large room in the old part of the building with an immense sense of history while also offering every modern convenience. Our room had a huge bathroom with shower and roll top bath tub with a comfy window seat overlooking the old Abbey. All staff were exceptional in friendlyness and efficiency but I would like to give a special mention to mention Nicky from the Bar/Dining room, Emma the dining room manager and Robby the friendly Night Porter who helped me after hours and then watched over our sleep… nothing was too much for them. A real highlight of our stay was the tour through the Abbey gardens, guided by Andy. Full of colorful surprises and beautiful topiary the gardens are a delight! Thank you to Andy for a knowledgeable tour!

United KingdomNot a fault of the hotel but personal ones, the pillows could have been firmer and given that my wife had difficulty in getting into the shower a grab handle on the shower would have made access and egress simpler.
Great staff at the hotel from check in desk, restaurant staff and the friendly cleaners. Everyone we spoke with was helpful and if we asked a question it was promptly replied to and dealt with. Given the age of the buildings and the historical links to the adjacent abbey there was a helpful booklet explaining the use of the buildings over the past centuries and its place in the town’s history. Great touch from the owners. Plenty of local information available at the desk and the local visitor centre was only a 10 minute walk away.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing! It was all just wonderful.
Ben and the team were all so friendly and welcoming, the hotel is beautifully decorated with an eclectic mix of antiques and curiosities, the food was delicious and the location was perfect. The hotel is steeped in history, so it will appeal to any guest from the UK or abroad. One of my family members has severely impaired eyesight and the staff did everything they could to make his stay there as comfortable as possible.

United KingdomI think it’s dog friendly, so the rooms are very small and close to each other. The room next door, they had 2 dogs and they were probably left in the room because they did not stop barking. It was annoying and also I did not enjoy knowing dogs were stuck in a small room.
Well located, really nice building with nice bars

United KingdomNothing.
Delicious breakfast. Dining room was not overcrowded as breakfast service spanned three hours. Good choice of food and liked the fact that it was locally sourced where possible. A personal preference but an option of overnight oats would be a great addition. Room was lovely. Spacious and peaceful despite overlooking the road. Decor was bold and quirky but so appropriate for the hotel.

FinlandThe bed was very soft and we woke up with sore backs. The bed was also a little small.
Oh what a lovely hotel. Stylish, comfortable with pleasant staff. We were offered a welcome drink upon arrival, which was a nice surprise. The parlours were so nice that we hardly explored the town, mainly we just spent time in the hotel. The breakfast was delicious and included specialty coffees. The hairdryer was Dyson. Everything was exceptionally clean.
