Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Staying here was truly unforgettable, a place that feels like a hidden gem. The warm conversations with the hosts about the local culture, traditions, and surroundings left us with memories we will cherish forever. The garden is a little paradise: we grilled during the sunset, you can see the stars at night, tasted the best plum of my life, and spent time by a majestic oak tree with swings that transported me straight back to childhood — it felt almost magical. The silence, the birdsong at night and early in the morning, and the sense of seclusion made it a perfect retreat. And yet, it’s also so convenient — just a few minutes to the supermarket, and only 15–20 minutes to reach the sea and its beautiful, unspoiled beaches. A rare combination of peace and accessibility. A place that touches the heart — highly recommended for anyone seeking both rest and inspiration.

United KingdomIt is a little hard to find as the sign for Oak Lodge is not easily seen due to overgrown shrubs/trees on the main road. A phone call to Heather resolved our issue as Richard was sent to the top of the drive to help us locate them 😊
Hosts, Heather and Richard, were welcoming and friendly, even offering us a drink with them on our arrival. Quiet and peaceful, set well back off the road with lots of parking spaces. Breakfasts were excellent. We had full cooked breakfast, toast, juice, tea/coffee, although Heather would accommodate to your tastes/requirements where required, I'm sure. I had some of the best night's sleep (whilst away from home) ever. The accommodation was beautiful. We were in a self-contained annexe, tastefully decorated with everything you could want/need for your stay. We would highly recommend this accommodation and we would definitely book again if travelling to the area.

United KingdomIt was perfect for me, my mother and my 5 month old son to use as a base to visit family in the local area to Spilsby. Having the large comfy room upstairs with the en suite and the whole kitchen area downstairs separate was perfect when my baby was put to bed and the we could have dinner downstairs. We were even able to host two of my sisters for dinner on the second night. It’s really close to the centre of Spilsby, was able to get to Sainsbury’s in maybe 3 mins and Co Op in 4 so really easy to pick anything up we needed for our time there. The hosts made us feel very welcome straight away and the breakfast was brilliant and check out time was flexible which made it a bit easier making sure we could leave with all of the baby gear!

United KingdomAbsolutely great! Heather & Frank looked after us royally for our weekend trip (connected with a ceremony at the former RAF Spilsby) and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated and spotless with super comfortable beds and great bathrooms. Highly recommended👏👍

United KingdomNot a 'didn't like' but it would have been good to have a few microwavable containers. A freezer or freezer compartment would have been useful for us but only due to what food we had to take for the dog. Openable windows in the kitchen would have been perfect, but that's because the weather was ridiculously hot and we had a 4 legged escapee with us, so couldn't have the door open. She was able to watch the world go by from being put on the lead from the bottom of the stairs and she was more than happy. It's a shame there isn't any outside space for exercising the dog on site but there's plenty of fields close by to take them and lots of public footpaths.
Breakfast was wonderful and in a lovely setting overlooking the garden of the main house. Dog friendly apartment with plenty of space for humans and pets alike. Really quiet overnight for a wonderfully peaceful sleep. The separate kitchen area downstairs. Various beds upstairs to pick from. The furniture and fixings are lovely. Comfortable double bed. Lovely large shower. Parking right outside the door. Well equipped apartment with plenty of storage areas that would easily allow a week's stay for a family. Would stay again and highly recommend to anyone visiting the area or coast.

United KingdomNothing to not like
There was absolutely nothing not to like about Oaklodge. Our hosts were amazing and our accommodation in the Acorn Suite was outstanding. My husband and I took our granddaughter and our dog and we could not have wished for a more welcoming place to stay. We liked it so much that we would go back again just to stay here!

This is a really great b&b. Our room was big, really nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. Heather and frank were great hosts, very welcoming and interesting to chat with. We were attending a wedding which was a 5min walk up the road, so the location was ideal.

Plenty of parking, comfortable accommodation and the cleanest B&B we’ve stayed in. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming. Poached eggs for breakfast were very good. Excellent location: set back from main road in a quiet village. (Easy walk into Spilsby for an evening meal at the Nelson’s Butt pub)
