Very nice hotel in a great location next to the city walls and about 10 minutes walk to York Minster and the rest of the Shambles area. Would stay there again. No parking left on site but large paid parking 5 minutes walk away.

Really limited parking but understandable given the location. Parking seems expensive.

Staff we're really lovely and quick to replace our room when we were put in one which clearly was damp and stale smelling. Location is fantastic and by far the selling point. Rooms are spacious and nice private entrance.

The downstairs area wasn't fully accessible unfortunately. My son wasn't able to go to the breakfast area as there wasn't a ramp. I had to ask a member of staff to get my breakfast as I couldn't leave my son. There were lots of steps around the bottom part of the hotel unfortunately which made it too dangerous for my son to walk around. If we do go back then we won't book the breakfast.

Great location. Nice staff, they pushed the bed up to the wall as we requested

The price is high for this hotel. They used to do offers where you got a evening meal as a deal but not seen one for a long time

The lady Pip on reception is amazingly helpful. The hotels looking a bit tired upstairs and could do with a modern look. Location is amazing

Parking was just a no-go, fortunately Monk street car park was a good alternative and safe to leave car overnight. Beds were quite hard, I much prefer a softer mattress.

When we got to our room the key pad had ran out of battery. Went to reception to report but still had not been sorted when we got back on the night. No trademark welcome cookies. No remote for tv in room. We stayed in the older part of the building in an attic room and the interior was a bit shabby with damp round windows and mould round bath. No blind on one of the 2 ceiling window so woke up early with thr sunlight flooding in. Corridors smelt a bit musty

Staff were friendly, location was great, nice breakfast and comfy bed. Had lunch too which was tasty. Communal and bar areas really nice. Large car park close by.

The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us during our stay. Although the hotel had issues with the A/C throughout several rooms and it was quite hot, the team responded quickly and professionally. When we brought the issue to their attention, they promptly changed our room, which made a big difference. Their helpful attitude really stood out despite the inconvenience.

Staff were not very helpful even with simple things. I had made a request for a bath - as it stated when we booked not all rooms had baths - which had been confirmed. Arrived - told it was not on the system - blamed booking.com. Then said they would sort it and come back in a bit. Came back, had lost our bags (found them). They hadn’t sorted it, insisted they had even when I pointed out they had just given us the same room again. Went to check the room - no bath. I realise relatively minor but we ended up accepting the room as we had already wasted time on a 1 night getaway.

Air conditioning was broken and whilst fans were provided these just circulated the warm air and were noisy. No water was in the room when we arrived. Breakfast was poorly stocked, items which ran out were not replenished very quickly at all

The hotel is very confusing to navigate - it is a rabbit-warren of rooms. There is not clear signage for room directions.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is plentiful and varied in a lovely restaurant area. The hotel is within easy walking distance of York Minster and main York sites.

Our room was in the older part of the building, above the restaurant. We could hear the floorboards from above creaking and we both suffered from coughing, maybe from the air con, dust and/or pets staying. Whatever it was, was not a good atmosphere to breath, otherwise a super location to visit York.

Great location, great staff and good value.
