Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLack of attention to detail. There were no glasses in the room, no bin and the room was too small to be a family room, which included not having a bedside table. The decor was ‘tired’ throughout the hotel. There was obviously a lack of staff in the morning at breakfast as the tables were not set properly and we were not provided with what was needed, such as milk or a spoon for the tea that was brought to the table.
The greeting on arrival and food served at breakfast were good.

United KingdomWe booked the hotel on here but we're not advised the pool was closed which was the main reason why we booked this hotel.
The second room we had was nice as we changed due to a bad smell in the first. The hotel staff were great. Jason in the leisure centre was great. We were given a full complimentary dinner due to the issue with the closed pool.

United KingdomOnce you move out of the main hotel to the corridors and bedrooms these are extremely dated. The bedroom although mainly clean did have some significant stains on the carpet. The bathroom and furniture in the room were dated and tired with some of the fixtures in the bathroom coming off the wall, drinks facilities provided were limited and having been provided in one of 2 cups ended up having to be spread over the counter top. But our main complaint was the bed, this was as hard as bricks so much so that we hardly slept. For this reason we would never use this hotel again
The main hotel was nice, a little dated but nothing major. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was ok, although if you're wanting a full English then selection of elements was somewhat limited, cereals, fruit and toast were available though so you won't starve

Staff friendly, rooms and en suite spacious, indoor swimming pool, close proximity to Chester Zoo and overall value for what I paid but not worth any more

United KingdomGenerally tired and grubby and in need of repair. No lights in bar and staff needed training in basic functions. Room not as clean as should be. Deep clean needed throughout and maintenance. Bed far too soft.
Evening meals were good quality and value Good walk-in shower after we had made a fuss because we weren't allocated one.

United KingdomThe beds were not very comfortable, mattress was very sagged at one side. Bedside lamp wasn't plugged in, on looking for the plug socket behind the bed it was found to be hanging out of the wall. There was no bin in the room, not even in the bathroom which was a little odd. No pillow or mattress protectors on any of the beds.
Location was good for where we needed to be and room was a good size

United KingdomThe room was very tired and outdated. The furniture all needs replacing as was old and broken. The room needs a really good clean as there were cobwebs and dead bugs. The radiator had dirty splashes on the front and was full of dust on the inside and the carpet needs a good clean. The kettle was grim. It wouldn’t take much to make this better just a good deep clean and some simple furniture. We wouldn’t stay again purely due to the room which is a shame.
The staff were very good and the food was excellent, my son particularly enjoyed the lovely burger he had it twice. The downstairs areas (lounge and spa) are really nice and have great potential but need to be kept a little cleaner, just get rid of the cobwebs and dead bugs on the windowsills and it would be grand.

IrelandThe breakfast was half raw on the secondary morning of our stay and also the charge of £20 per night for a dog was totally unnecessary as the dog never ate any food there and in my opinion this charge was only a way of taking more money from us .
It was cheap

United KingdomInterior is a little dated We had 3 rooms. 1 on ground floor, dripping shower &sink, one of bath taps had part of it broke off, Needs replacing before someone injures themself. 2 upstairs a family room, & another for niece with her baby. Had to carry pushchair up & down the stairs. Not ideal with a baby & bags. We were lucky another guest helped on one occasion. No teaspoons in room we had to use toothbrush handle. We were the only ones in the restaurant & waited along time for food, children were tired waiting. Breakfast wasn't great lipstick on a glass, mouldy bread . Yes all reported. Plates & dishes had water sitting in them which everyone were drying with napkins. Locker rooms were clean but lockers were very out dated lots were broken no locks.
