The toilet and shower room was across the hall, not ensuite.

Interesting, quirky property. The owner provided lots of great touches, so we had everything we could possibly need. She drove us to the station to catch our train as there were no taxis available. There was a wash basin in the bedroom.

The shower and toilet were across the hallway. I was the only guest on the nights I stayed there so this was not really a problem.

Very Clean comfortable room and an excellent breakfast

Don’t expect pristine. It’s an old building.

It was traditional Scottish hospitality at its best. Beautiful Victorian house with character. You didn’t have en suite but you had your own separate shower room and toilet. Bathrobe supplied for floating between. Also lovely sitting room. Good Wi-Fi and tv. Breakfast table with linen tablecloth and lovely spread as not seen in Premier Inn. Best cooked breakfast in a long time. Asked for and got great porridge.

There was some building work going on in the immediate area, so I was up early to avoid noise.

Location good, parking good. Very good breakfast. The host Liz was friendly. The hotel was in the Edwardian style, with features of the era. I had my own bathroom, separate from the bedroom (not en-suite).

We were really happy with everything, we don’t have any notes. Though we only stayed for one night and we weren’t able to try the breakfast so we can’t comment on that.

The Maybank is in a lovely location and we had a really comfortable room that had a real home away from home feel to it. The lady working there was very welcoming and incredibly friendly. We also loved the biscuit offerings in the room, that was a real treat!

    1. The state of the bathroom. It's not en-suite but is located down the hall (but as the only guests that was only a mild inconvenience). We were offered a choice of two - a bathroom and a shower room - and we opted for the shower room. It wasn't clean. The toilet bowl was dirty, there was soap scum all round the top of the basin and there were cobwebs everywhere. More of a deep clean wouldn't go amiss, as other reviewers have said. 2. Clutter. It's a gorgeous old Victorian (?) villa stuffed full of glorious bits'n'bobs. However every available surface was taken up with said bits'n'bobs, which meant there wasn't really anywhere to set your own things out. It was okay for the couple of nights we spent there, but if I was staying longer, I would like to see the bedroom and bathroom cleared of surface clutter. Might make it easier to clean, too. 3. It looks a little bit shabby. But Liz the owner explained that they're hoping to tackle the exterior to smarten it up a bit, and to be honest the bits that mattered - the comfort, the breakfast, the hospitality and the cleanliness (apart from the bathroom) were all there.

A thoroughly surprising B&B - the owner only takes one booking at a time so you are always the only guests. But you're free to come and go as you please and she's a great respecter of privacy. In the room there's the cleanest, whitest, fluffiest towels I'd ever seen, and a really comfy double (not kingsize) bed. Plenty of tea and coffee, plus hot chocolate and Ovaltine sachets and a great selection of biscuits and choccy biccies. The listing suggests that the family room contains a seating area and a dining table, when in fact these are in your own private sitting room across the hall, where your delicious and enormous breakfast is also served. This consisted of a great selection of cereals and fruit, followed by a simple but tasty cooked breakfast, all served on beautiful china and crockery. The dining/sitting room is full of antiques and objets d'arts, and is really cosy and welcoming, especially if Liz lights the fire! The house itself is well located, just a 10/15-minute stroll along the road into the town centre, with the Clyde on one side.

Luxury in an historic house by the seaside on a loch, very close to Glasgow.

    I didn't book for longer.

A little piece of luxury. The room was spacious and had every little thoughtful thing I could possibly want. Even the complimentary drink sachets which included hot chocolate, Horlicks, a selection of herbal, fruit, green and black teas, with cookies, small chocolate bars, milk and an electric kettle. There was a sink in the room and a hairdryer which plugged in where I could actually see my hair in a mirror. The heating came on when it got a bit chilly even though it was summer. The house is very old and has been tastefully and comfortably furnished. The shared lounge/dining room had an open fire, fresh flowers, hot drink making facilities and was very comfortable place to relax and read, chat or watch tv. I had my own bathroom down the corridor, and the bath had every kind of bath salts, bubbles, soaps etc you could ever want. Ahh - deep and lovely. The breakfast was one of a kind. Fresh raspberries, strawberries, all kinds of fresh fruit, cereals, croissants, toast, tea and coffee and a delicious healthy cooked breakfast as well, served in the lounge/dining room with old fashioned elegance and charm. The long beach is just across the road and it is the beginning of the Gare Loch. Buses are handy and a small grocery outlet at a garage is a short walk. The train and bus station is a bit of a walk but there is a bus. I took an Uber in the end from Glasgow. If you have a car you can visit Rhu, the area across the loch, and Loch Lomond which is very close. The hostess is like your Scottish granny who looks after your every need and also gives you your privacy. Loved it! It was like a little retreat.
