Same sex dormitories

As a cheap one night stopover this hostel was excellent and had showers, kitchen facilities etc for making your own meals (air fryer, microwave and cooker). Would recommend for backpacking or attending concerts at Murrayfield which was a 10-15 minute walk away

WIFI was pretty slow. I think the devices in the kitchen should be available from 5 am for those of us that had planned activities very early on and needed to cook breakfast earlier. Rooms were very small and it was hard to move around. I know that Edinburgh is an awesome city, but still 50 pounds per night in the hostel is a little bit overpriced.

The kitchen, the bathrooms and the showers looked good. The personnel was nice and friendly.

Rooms were a little cramped and warm, would be nice to have air conditioning and a place for big bags.

It’s far away from the center of Edinburgh, it’s about a 30 minute bus ride. There’s not very many places to sit, there’s a kitchen but it’s cramped and limited seating. There are small cushion/couch things but they’re in strange places, like in the hallway and not in a “community space”.

It was clean, and the staff were friendly. The sheets were clean. They had many amenities, like washing machines, a full kitchen with an oven, stovetop, microwave, air fryer, and toaster. There’s a fridge but it is public so you need to make sure to label your food. There are lockers for your things and they do have a key, but they won’t fit a bigger bag it’s more for personal items.

Only minor dislike is that the showers clogged fast. You had to have a very quick shower or turn off the water for 30 seconds to let the water go down before turning the water on again. Found this happened in each shower.

Really great location, 10 or so minute walk to Leith Walk which has heaps of pubs, cafes, restaurants & shops. From there can easily walk into Old Town, etc. Quiet location, lovely staff with recommendations. Super clean and comfortable.

It's quite far from the city center, and there aren't many pubs or restaurants nearby. The lady who checked us in (we arrived around 9:30 PM) was a bit unusual and made it clear that we had arrived rather late — she mentioned she would have preferred to go home earlier. Didn't really felt welcomed. We couldn't open any windows as they were locked, which wasn't ideal with 11 people sharing one room.

We had a whole 12 bed room booked for our group of 10 - it was great value and exactly what we needed. The shower and bathroom are okay.

The noise. It was bad timing but there was a large group staying who were up very early and were very noisy in the facilities, bathrooms and kitchen, which were located very near my room.

The ease of access, and ability to come and go easily without needing keys. The staff was super accommodating and friendly with great advice on how to get about the city.

The showers’ temperature handles are very stiff and hard to use and could probably use a bit of maintenance.

Good price, shops nearby, decent location, you can get to the city centre by bus easily.
