Only 2 minor things - It was a little unfortunate that they were putting board flooring into the hotel area for some sort of even which meant we had to navigate across. Also on arrival very difficult to find parking due to large wedding taking place. Maybe spaces could be reserved for guests staying overnight.

Great welcome from front house especially Mick (Mike?). All staff we interacted with restaurant/bar/cleaning staff were happy and engaging and helpful. Lovely evening meal in The Dining Room and great breakfast.

The only thing I could say was that things could have been a little quicker the second night.

The newly decorated areas are really lovely. The gallery is stunning and very comfortable for food or drinks. We stayed in a spa garden suite which was really lovely and the bed was amazingly comfortable. The food throughout was so nice, we ate in the Gallery one night and the restaurant the next. In the restuarant I had the venison and my hubbie had a steak and both were cooked to perfection. Loved the little touch of my starter being prepared at the table, great idea. The staff were very polite and helpful and really looked after us. Nothing was too much bother and all our interactions were really positive.

    Speed of staff

We booked the grand suite (room 4). It was a beautiful big room, absolutely huge and very luxurious. A few things i felt could have been better though. No air con so room was stuffy, the windows only opened at one side of room, the windows weren't painted at top as painter has clearly painted the windows and not pulled the blinds up 🤣 there was coffee cup stains on the tables. When paying £1150 for 1 night you expect better. The hotel is only open again 6 weeks after renovation but staff need to work on speed. 1 hour we waited for our afternoon tea to be served. 35 mins I waited for a coffee at my breakfast that didnt even come so had a fry up without a drink. 20 mins to even get my order taken for breakfast. Doubt I will go back to be honest.

The only comment I would make is the fridge in the room was warm, this was due to the cabinet its in, it has no room for the hot air to circle out, once I opened the door and pulled the fridge out it worked fine - maybe something should be looked at? noise of the veneration got on my nerves however this is easy done for me - my wife didn't think it was a big deal Breakfast was fine - the potato scone could of acted as Frisby it was solid but the rest was lovely.

We arrived and were greeted at the door by the Concierge team who took us to our room, great guy really friendly. The room itself was lovely, very warm but no point fitting an aircon machine in Scotland for our week of summer per year. Very well put together, the bed was comfortable. The spa facilities were excellent, The facility was super clean and really well presented. Food from room service was good and arrived quickly.

See issue above. For a 5 star hotel why are there no toilets on the same floor as the bar/restaurant? Breakfast included black pudding that was so hard I nearly broke the plate when I forced my knife through it! Like many other locations there should be a discount for golf if staying in the hotel.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice room but our friends room could not get hot water at the sink.

We personally feel the pricing is a bit high for drinks more than city prices plus a 10% charge on top as a gratuity this is wrong you should be given the option to tip.the person that serves you but sadly its the way things are going. We still feel this is short of a 5 star hotel experience its getting there though.

From the moment you walkin the entrance there is friendly staff waiting to help & show you around this stunning hotel. We ate in the dining room the service was good as was the food quite pricey but good quality.Breakfast was cooked to order it was fine.Afternoon tea was lovely served in the gallery. We used the pool cant fault it the whole hotel was spotless & looking more like a 5 star. Our room was faultless comfy large bed nice decor lovely powerful.walkin shower.

Our room(14) was very hot, not helped by a radiator that appeared to be still on in July and a thick duvet. Not sure why having spent a lot of money on the refurbishment no air conditioning was fitted. Window had obviously had a repair that was poorly done and needed filling and painting.

Refurbished rooms were well done with bold colour choices that work

I can't say I didnt like anything.. we stayed two nights, we had no complaints. In fact , we were very impressed.

The Mar Hall estate, with its historic buildings and, beautiful gardens with lovely for walks - the views of River Clyde and surroundings are so tranquil. Theres an 18 hole golf course. Newly built spa with indoor swimming pool and a well equipped gym. . Our room was lovely, a generous size, room 19. Huge comfortable bed, delightfully furnished. Breakfasts in the dining hall - great variety on offer, and well cooked and presented. Its a quality meal. . Fine dining restuarant in the evening too . Impressive Whiskey bar! Outside seating , patio front and back for drinks. Food is good, we had room service and restuarsnt dining. There's also casual dining, an Italian restuarant, even afternoon tea. The team 'concierge' are very helpful, knowledge of Scotlands historic local region , and will help plan your days out - very good indeed! Lastly there's plenty of free parking. All round, just brilliant. We'll worth a stay. We plan to return.

It’s just had a £20m upgrade but the finish in some areas needs attention such as the holes where old lighting was in the health suite, and patchy paint work and lacklustre plastering around sockets but that’s the contractors issue really and needs someone with a keen eye on the details to sort.

Stunning property in an amazing location.

The hotel wasn't finished - somewhat disappointing as I booked the room the day we were going as a surprise. The room I booked wasn't even finished. We were put in a room where they had painted the windows shut. We had no way of ventilating the room. There was no extractor fan in the bathroom. There wires hanging down in the corridor we stayed in. There were workmen outside the room in the corridor when I was taking on an online meeting. I called following our stay and was promised a phone call from the hotel director within 24 hours. A week on I still have not had a call back.

The staff on site are charming and helpful. The garden is beautiful. The hotel and spa will be stunning when finished.

Access from the hotel to the spa isn't great especially if you have a robe / swimming things on. The restaurant food wasn't the best - it had the potential to be amazing but some of the dishes underwhelmed however the breakfast was fab - loose leaf tea, kippers, porridge / fresh fruit - everything I wanted basically!

The hotel is gorgeous with an old world glamour - it would make a good wedding venue. There were serious renovations going on but it didn't especially affect us however I think once they are complete the hotel will want to put it's prices up. The spa and gym will be fabulous. The staff were excellent and very friendly - properly trained and well managed. Great beds. Quiet and restful.

Staff in the hall were very rude, they were serving all the older guests and walking past me and my friend. Not sure if this is just because we are young girls (21 years old) but we are paying the same as most people to stay in the hotel we expect the same treatment. We had to ask to me served, ask for more drinks, ask to be seated for breakfast in the morning and ask again to be served drinks at breakfast.

Spa and nice big room. When we arrived the man at reception that took our cases was so kind, he even noticed we had proseco in our bag so got a bucket, ice and some glasses for us without us having to ask, it was such a nice gesture. Reception staff were lovely also.

The decor in the section of the hotel in which we stayed and our room was very tired. The room was large and had a comfortable bed but the carpet had holes in it and the shower was rusty and marked. The corridor outside the room smelled of damp. In our opinion it didn’t warrant the cost of £255 for one night.
