How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWelcome Dinner was ok Wine was good
Cleanliness of the whole place , cobwebs, mouldy shower, the whole place needs TLC Broken blinds, gaffer tape used in rooms for repairs, general maintenance was poor. Fur balls around the bar area where cats were allowed on the bar! Cracked window panes in the lounge! The orange juice at breakfast was fermented so no one drank it.

Verified reviewThe character of this property is wonderful and we were made very welcome and all staff were really lovely. It is clear that maintaining a property and keeping on top of the necessary refurbishments would be costly and our room was one of the most dated, other rooms were better decorated and had newer bathrooms. The food was wonderful, beautifully presented and good value for money. The lounge was beautifully decorated, as was the bar. I felt the owners were very lovely people, who were doing their level best to ensure a comfy stay.
The bathroom in the family room had a mixer tap and it was difficult to get the water temperature mixed, so the temperature was too hot or too cold. There was a burnt out kettle in the room that needed to be removed. The cleanliness of the room was poor in parts with hair on linen, bathroom floor and an old sock down the side of the fold out bed. No roller blind on the skylight and one pillow on single beds. This hotel has character, it’s unique and served us well for the two nights we stayed. It was value for money.

Verified reviewThe Luxury Family room is amazing, a king size bed and two singles under a high vaulted roof plus the kids room and adult rooms are separated by a door so you can get some peace at the end of the day! Our host was extremely helpful and polite throughout our stay ensuring we had everything we needed and offering advice on what to see locally etc.
The only downside was our spa bath, yes it worked and my kids loved it but its a little on the small side for an adult so my wife and I didn't get to enjoy it unfortunately but to be fair we booked based on the overall appearance of the room so not a huge issue for us.

Verified reviewThe staff were so friendly and helpful. Dave was working between the bar, restaurant and check in and he did it with such ease. He was really friendly and helpful. The lady at breakfast was helpful and a cheery character. They also catered for my dietary requirements and the food was lovely.
Some things looking a little tired but that is being picky.

Verified reviewVery quirky - love the decor. It might look a little ‘tired’ in places, but it is all part of the charm! Easy access to all the locations we intended to visit, but you do need a car! Very comfortable and the staff work hard to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Nothing really. I suppose if you don’t like animals, then the properties pet cats might put you off as they roam around the place, but they are friendly and adorable, so again, I thought they only added to the feel and character of the place.

Verified reviewA beautiful old building in the lovely Conwy valley. Staff were excellent and very efficient in sorting out minor issues. Not a lot of choice at breakfast but very happy with what was on offer.
Interior is a bit tired. With a bit of investment it could be a fantastic hotel, and I personally would be happy to pay more for the location and views.

Verified reviewWe really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is gorgeous inside and outside. I loved the decor . Our room was great and it had plenty of space with a very large comfortable bed and I really loved that we had Netflix. We had a lovely tasty meal in the evening and the gentleman that served us was very sweet and helpful. Breakfast was good also. I would definitely recommend the hotel and I definitely wish to return but for longer next time.
Leaving as I enjoyed it so much that I didn’t want to leave as I fell in love with the place

Verified reviewIt was close to the wedding venue we were visiting and the owner was very kind dropping us there. He seems friendly
It is very much in need of an update. Our room was quite grubby and for £140 you would expect some water or glasses in the room as a minimum The shower was very noisy and the carpets dirty. In the night you could hear the door being used all night. Its also really warm in the room p The owner has dogs and cats which I didn’t mind but I think would put some people off. The car park also has quite a few broken down old cars Apparently the food is good there but we didn’t try it

Shower was virtually pointless, lack of water pressure. Even turning cold water on didn't help. Decor is past it's best
