Room twice not serviced properly while we were out. Bed just pulled up not properly made and bathroom not cleaned. Second day door left’ on the latch’ ie open! Bed very hard. Should not have to pay for some breakfast items as extra.

It felt very tired and in need of some TLC Our room smelt quite musty and felt dark.

The hotel is quite old and tired and this is noticeable. One of the reception staff knew nothing about the area - when I asked for recommendations where to go he said “the lake”. He then admitted that he didn’t know the area. He was even unable to point to any leaflets or a map.

The location and ease of getting there. The view was awesome. The large garden which goes all the way down to the lake. The bar and restuarant staff. The fact we could take our dogs.

Hotel very run down. Furniture in room past it's best. Arms on chairs worn through . Bathroom sink looked dirty but it turned out to be small cracks. Couches in public areas needed replaced.Outside of building needed repainted and some stone work done. Paint round windows all flaking.

Staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was good. Grounds were very nice.

Housekeeping poor- bed not made properly, bathroom not cleaned two days of four, door left on the latch one day- we were out all day! Confusion over bottled water- told it was complimentary on first day only but was left more several times. Hotel in general needs upkeep/ update. Perhaps too expensive at present. , Ed

We had asked for a room with wheelchair access. We did get a ground floor room but the bedroom door was very very heavy and difficult to deal with in a wheel. There was also no phone in the room and the wifi didn't work in the bedroom which meant that the aibglw occupant could not ask for help from family or staff if needed. The bathroom was not accessible.

Rooms looked a little old fashioned and tired.

Dinner and Breakfast Service was very Good. WAs a group of 14 we were given a whole dinning room to ourselves. This was a god send with toddlers running around.

The location is wonderful, large grounds, freedom to roam. Staff attentive and helpful. Room (upgraded) once changed from. Lower ground floor with no view to 3rd floor, was large and comfortable. Food very good.

The building itself and the way the history was preserved and displayed. There was just the right amount of politeness and friendliness from the staff. They provided all we needed and answered all our queries but were not too formal about it. And they jumped to help all guests (eg. the elderly or disabled) without being asked.

Beautiful house in a stunning location. Lovely staff with one exception. Fantastic food from the chefs but very expensive. Great wine list. Breakfast extras were poor for the quality of the hotel eg orange juice, jams, bread etc. Charging a supplement for breakfast dishes was unnecessary given the cost of BnB.

Cost of food snd drinks, and the options at breakfast, particularly as quite a lot was at an additional cost. Also we thought it would work well with the toast option to be at the same time as the cooked breakfast, or at least asked if people want with their eggs or on its own.
