Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only negative comment I have is that our room was quite tired with peeling paint on the walls and scuffed/scratched door frames - it wouldn't take much to tidy that up, as and when needed.
Incredible history. It was a privilege to stay in such an old and historically rich hotel. The staff are good. The facilities are good. The atmosphere is good. The surroundings are wonderful.

United KingdomThe bar and the restaurant food were extremely expensive. The bar especially was surprisingly expensive for a glass of wine and a beer I paid more than the last time I bought the same in west London. Dinner was very good, and extremely expensive.
It’s in a beautiful location right in the centre of Broadway. A wonderfully historic building beautifully preserved and well presented. We had a room in the newer part which meant that it had great modern facilities. The birthday card and cakes were a nice touch. Took a few minutes before we left to have a dip in the hot tub in the spa, which was lovely .

United KingdomThe Gordon Russell suite was certainly spacious though a little more dated than I was expecting. It was as clean as a room with older furnishings and carpets can be, but I would have thought an upgrade due. The sofa beds especially were a little grubby and though my daughter didn’t complain as she was exhausted, I would have had trouble with the thin mattress and springs.
The ambience and charm is undeniable, and such a lovely village. A good base for exploring the wider area. The dining and bar area are beautiful and a sweet secret garden over the road at the back.

United KingdomWe tried to have a shower in the afternoon before dinner but the temperature was stuck on "molten". Also, the staff at the Grill Restaurant were very unfriendly and unhelpful, to the point we offered to leave as we appeared to be inconveniencing them.
The room was beautiful, although very dusty.

United KingdomBreakfast was a bit disappointing. We ordered coffee and it didn’t arrive until I had nearly eaten all my cooked food. I had to ask 3 times about what had happened to it - not good enough in such a well run hotel otherwise.
Beautiful hotel in lovely setting. Lovely atmosphere throughout. Very helpful reception staff. Waiting staff for dinner also excellent

United KingdomWe ate in the Grill which was excellent and then walked to a nearby pub, as two of our party have a penchant for real ale. We returned just after 11pm and were told by the member of staff in the bar, that there was no way we could buy a drink regardless as to whether we wanted it in the bar, a residents lounge or our room. We go away frequently and I cannot recall a hotel of this status where we were met with the same refusal. It's not a major problem and we intend to return, but it does constitute the sole occurence that was mildly irritating.
Ambience, room and food were all great.

United KingdomWe didn’t realise we were getting an annex room rather than one in the actual building itself. Instead of a stunning historic room we got a dingy little one with low ceilings and not much natural light.
Beautiful historic building in lovely Cotswolds location. Breakfast was fab.

United KingdomService charges added to bar drinks....not even sure that is legal let alone the right thing to do !! Basic facilities in the rooms no charging for toothbrush, no dressing table for girls.
Overall a nice hotel in a great location - however very difficult in my opinion to justify the very high costs. Rooms are nice but basic - no full length mirror or dressing table facilities for the girls. No charging facility for toothbrush...

United KingdomIt felt as though it was priced for foreign tourists, not for Brits wanting a weekend away- but maybe this is the Cotswolds effect. And I think it’s got a bit too big. 80-something bedrooms means that the service is not particularly personal compared with The Pig hotels which we’ve stayed in too and which are much smaller.
A good size bedroom in the main house (number 51 on 1st floor), one of the few with an air conditioning unit, although it was not hugely effective. Nice bathroom with shower over the bath; very good Noble Isle toiletries. A warm and helpful welcome from the reception staff including valet parking as the car park is a short walk away. Casual supper in the Tavern on our first night; more formal dinner in the Grill on the second night- a beautiful room; excellent breakfasts both days. The hotel has lots of cosy little corners inside to have drinks; we tried to get a table on the patio/ terrace at the back for a drink before dinner but there were no tables available.

United KingdomOur room was described as cozy, which it was but also stuffy and when we opened the windows, the fans from the kitchen area was noisy. More than adequate but not perhaps best value for money. After a lovely evening meal, we finished our drinks in the courtyard… but it became apparent that some senior managers of the hotel were having a “working dinner”; they were loud and being extremely rude about colleagues… thankfully their lack of leadership by example did not detract from the staff serving them, who were impeccable by contrast… it didn’t spoil our stay but it does give insight as to how the company is run.
The venue is so full of character, in an excellent location with extremely attentive staff throughout.
