Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Everything about the room was perfect. If we had to mention something, it would be that there was only one towel for two people. While you could pay extra for another one, we believe having one per person should be standard

We had an excellent stay in this apartment that exceeded our expectations. The accommodation was impeccably clean upon our arrival, with fresh linens and a spotless bathroom. The space is well-designed and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. The host was particularly welcoming and responsive, quickly answering our questions and providing valuable advice about the area. Their availability and kindness really contributed to making our stay enjoyable. Regarding the residence, we felt safe throughout our entire stay. Access is well-secured and the neighborhood is quiet. The location is ideal and the common areas are well-maintained. Nothing to dislike about the property. Only potential issue I could think of is parking. Though parking was limited per arrival as I was heading back to the property at night only.
Clean, warm, spacious. Lovely property, lovely host. Pleasant from start to finish. Would love to stay again. Perfect hosting, excellent communication.

We weren't allowed to cook food.
The location was pretty good as Lidl a walking distance and a few small shops close etc. The owner was friendly and accommodating.

The place is great … but the host is even greater! Wakas and Hasnan are the kindest most helpful hosts ever … they strived to make sure that I am comfortable in every way … they were extremely generous with me in a way I have never seen any host before! This is definitely one of the greatest places to stay at Booking.com

As I travel for studies, the place was a bit far from my university, but nothing can be done about it. If it was anywhere nearer, I would rent it for all the weeks I need to be in London.
The place, the room and the host were wonderful. I would highly recommend and would possibly use again. It was immaculate, organised and quiet. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed, my own bathroom, use of the kitchen and living room. There was free parking on the street, which was a bit busy but I managed to get a space.

We were very well received! The flat was immaculate! The host was excellent and really ensured we were comfortable from the beginning to the end of our stay! Also, there is attention to detail - amenities were available for us, which was a plus. The mattress is very comfortable too! Thank you!
