Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere needs to be more consideration for doors slamming during quiet hours, this is down to individuals however, more notices on ALL doors to say DON'T ALLOW THE DOOR TO SLAM. I got woken up every night at different times 4/5am due to inconsiderate people, it shook the whole hostel. Improvements on quiet closing door options would also help. Cleaning could be improved on a deeper level but on the surface, it is fine. I would like to see more notices in the kitchen to say Please Wash Up and Clean as you would like the kitchen to be found. Also, notices in the toilet encouraging the same considerations. We all have different standards of hygiene but when it's a shared space/shared items, and not your home, extra consideration should be a standard. I am shocked by how some people wash-up, or leave a toilet after they've used it. Lastly, it would be helpful, and no effort to improve the information available on the listing e.g. I had asked in advance if they had the following available 1) a cafeteria as I wanted to bring some fresh coffee 2) lockers - I was told no to both yet when I arrived, there were 6 cafeteria and in the room I was in, there were lockers but you needed your own padlock. I would stay here again despite these improvements.
Guy, who is overseeing the running of the hostel is very welcoming, helpful and was happy for me to drop off my luggage, which I truly appreciated. I had a great stay overall. The kitchen is well equipped. The location was perfect for me - I don't drive so walked everywhere which suited me, also the buses to Wool Station and other locations e.g. Weymouth and Corfe Castle/Swanage was easy to access. They have a drying room which is a great feature for drying wet items/clothes. Beds are comfy and sanitary, also sheets. Each bed has an individual light and socket for charging electronics.

United KingdomOthers in hostel were banging the mens' loo/shower room, with result that it was like thunder/earthquake to those in room 6 next to it. Perhaps door can be adjusted, or a big sign put on both sides of it for those who are not aware of noise they create.
Bunk beds so sturdy that climbing up to top didn't shake the whole bunk, and mattresses thick with similar result. Excellently ventilated throughout. Fully equipped kitchen. No lockers but the manager stored your things safely. A lockable bike shed. TV in lounge.

United KingdomLocation was great, only about a 20min walk away from Lulworth cove visitor centre, which from there is an easy 5 min walk to Lulworth Cove, or one of the start points for heading to see Durdle Door!

United KingdomI did not see the female only dorm option on booking so ended up in a mixed dorm which was not a pleasant experience. Staff allocated me a new bed immediately once I explained I did not want to share with a 50+ man watching porn on loud speaker. Also a few doors bang loudly as the hydraulic arms are broken, a simple problem to fix, that would hugely improve the experience for everyone.
Great little hostel, amazing location in quiet road, nice 15 min walk to Lulworth Cove along the back of the houses, easy access to coastal paths, bus routes, cafes, pub and Londis village shop which sells good selection of groceries and fresh baked bread and pastries. Helpful and friendly staff.

United KingdomI guess to be expected for a location like this, but absolutely no interaction with other guests (this may be a Pro for you). Not really any hangout areas, no social aspects. Also no plug sockets near the bed for charging your phone. Also no storage/lockers in the rooms.
Comfortable beds, nice and quiet, only 4 beds in my room, so a bit more private than most. On site parking was very nice.

United KingdomNone that I can think of.
The staff named Guy was very helpful in answering our questions and responding to our requests. We booked the 6 bunk-beds and the bed was comfortable to sleep with duvet. In the room, there are lockers where we can put our stuff and we have our own sink. Toilet and shower facilities are clean and in a shared space. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in the hostel.

VietnamOne girl in the dormitory from Egypt studying in Manchester had an alarm which rang every hour from 4 am to 9 lam and she hardly stirred - when sleep can be a luxury to all of us.
Spacious, well set up, comfortable and clean, with a good kitchen and helpful staff. N.B. Drive to the end of School Lane to find the one storey hostel - as it's not well sign-posted.

United KingdomThe doors can be quite noisy and the walls fairly thin. The first night I spent there, was difficult to sleep without earplugs. There was a family next door speaking really loudly, normally hostels don't accommodate children but this one did unfortunately.
Good location, large kitchen and dining area. It met all my needs. There was parking on site and it was easy to walk into town or to the Lulworth Cove. The people I shared the room with were all pleasant.
