Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaSome soap for the shower would be nice. This was the only thing lacking. It is located just after the Skye Bridge so if you are looking for something more central- Portree would be a good choice. However, this did not affect us at all and the lodge was so lovely.
Beautiful little house. A home away from home. Lovely views. We even saw two deer run in front of the house at dinner time. Has everything you need- washing machine with washing powder, dryer, nice welcome pack with some essentials

United KingdomThere were no issues we had except maybe the bedroom layout I had to sleep downstairs with my son as I wasn’t comfortable with my young children being downstairs on their own.
Cosy and beautiful location, each detail was well thought out and the location of the property felt private.

United KingdomNothing. The owners have done a fantastic job in creating this special place.
This is a characterful wooden lodge, lovingly and thoughtfully decorated and equipped, and with a welcome pack that sets the standard for everyone else - a bottle of wine, tea, coffee, milk, eggs, bread, butter and shortbread. It’s brilliantly located for the southern half of Skye (Armadale Castle and Gardens are just 24 mins away by car) and has lovely views of the Cuillins. And it’s quiet. And the beds are really comfortable. And the bathroom looks like it was plucked out of a 5 star hotel. And it has parking for at least 2 cars. This is everything a top notch holiday let should be.

Czech RepublicAn absolutely amazing house with everything you need even for a long stay. We stayed for 5 days and if we had no further plans, we would definitely stay longer. It also has a nice location with the whole Isle of Skye accessible within one hour. Supermarket is close by. The hosts were very helpful.

AustraliaThis is a lovely modern two bedroom home over two levels with great facilities and great views across the bay from Broadford and to the mountains. Well equipped kitchen, bathroom, washing facilities, comfortable beds, lounge and upstairs sitting area. Loaded with maps, games, star charts, torches local information. John was a great host. When the water went off due to roadworks he turned up with 8x1.5 l bottles of water to keep us going!

DenmarkThe weather was not great during our stay, so the view was mostly hidden by cloud. Not the owner's fault! The lodge did not include toiletries (a slight issue for us because we flew to the UK so didn't bring our own).
The house is a lovely log cabin with a huge floor-to-roof window facing a great view. It is beautifully presented inside and has a very large bathroom. There was a great food basket welcome. Having the key in a coded box outside made it practical to arrive when we wanted. There are games to play in the evenings as an alternative to TV.

United StatesHot! The sun heated up the house each day, even with the blinds closed. There was no simple way to adjust the thermostat downward, so we had to open windows and doors and blow fans to bring the temperature into the 80 degree (F) range. This, of course, allowed the bugs, midges and flies to get into the house. We spent a fair amount of time hunting them down each evening.
Absolutely amazing! Quiet location, modern facility, fantastic views, and very gracious hosts.

FranceI was travelling with French friends who mentioned that having basics like cooking oil and dried herbs would have been appreciated, but I have to say that the generous welcome pack of Scottish goodies and a good bottle of wine more than made up for this tiny oversight.
This lovely chalet-style house was self-catering, with two bedrooms, so some of your questions don't really apply (breakfast, staff, romantic, etc.); the owner was very helpful with keys on arrival and the house itself was a lovely home from home, but with a much bigger bathroom than mine at home, with a huge bath and separate walk-in shower. Much appreciated. The kitchen facilities were great too, with a dishwasher included. And having a washing machine and dryer made life so much easier after hiking. Gorgeous sunset views from the large windows. We were there for three nights, wish we could have stayed longer!

United KingdomNothing I could think of, some small details that does not matter much
One of the best houses I stayed ever. You could feel that the place was done by the people who care. The design of the place is incredible, everything is done with taste. The house is located close to the grocery store and some restaurants. The views from the house are to die for - you could just sit there the whole day and enjoy the landscape. In addition, I want to mention how incredibly clean the house was! I felt so relaxed being in such a neat environment, even the blankets smelled like freshly washed. Cannot recommend it enough, this place is a gem, I would definitely come back.
