Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI booked a surprise weekend away for me and my fiancé for his birthday, somewhere remote, peaceful and full of tranquility, the lochwood guest house ticked all those things! Location was perfect, the room we had was stunning and the view was unreal ! Stunning views of Loch goil. Marcin, our host, fantastic guy ! Very welcoming, pleasant, friendly and very knowledgeable! Would make a brilliant tour guide too 🤣 We opted for a cooked breakfast on our first morning which was lovely, and quite the twist on your "traditional" cooked breakfast, the second morning we had cereal and crossiants, plenty to choose from and also a coffee machine and tea making facilities available to use too. We ate out both evenings and it was Marcin who recommended both the places we went to, again, fantastic food at both. Overall a fantastic stay and we will 100% be returning next year ! Thank you for making us feel so welcome 😊

United KingdomThe location is wonderful, so peaceful with beautiful loch views and an abundance of wildlife, including red squirrels and even a pine martin at the feeder! Marcin has a wealth of local and wildlife knowledge, recommending local walks which were perfect for us. His interesting, substantial and beautifully cooked breakfast set us up for the day. The cabin which is available for guests to use was a relaxing space to sit with a glass of wine in the evening. We loved our stay!

United Arab EmiratesThe roads to the guest house were a bit of a hastle but worth the effort. Sounds of walk steps along the corridors/rooms were disturbing, particularly in the night.
We stayed for 4 nights at Lochwood Guest House. The view by the lake was immensely beautiful. Mr. Marcin exerted all the efforts to support us and even proposed a daily comprehensive daily visit plan.

United KingdomA Hidden Gem – 10 Stars! I can’t recommend Lochwood Guest House in Lochgoilhead highly enough - it’s an absolute hidden gem! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome which made us feel instantly at home. The setting is breathtaking. Nestled on the shores of Loch Goil, the views from the guest house are beautiful and perfect for anyone looking to unwind.. Our room was spotless, beautifully decorated and incredibly comfortable. The bed was one of the best I’ve slept in, and waking up to those loch views each morning, just beautiful! Marcin, the host, was exceptional- friendly, attentive, and full of helpful advice about the area. He made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived and nothing was too much trouble. His warm hospitality added so much to our stay and made the experience even more memorable. It was lovely to chat to him about the local wildlife. Lochwood is ideally located. It’s the perfect base for exploring Lochgoilhead and further. This is definitely the best Guest House we have stayed at. We look forward to returning in the future.

United KingdomSimly a magical place. Marcin is an incredible host, so welcoming and kind. He puts his heart and soul into Lockwood and making sure all his guests have a brilliant experience. The wildlife around this beautiful house is just wonderful. From the resident Robin feeding from my hand to seals and porpoises in the bay and a multitude of birds, not to mention the red squirrels, it's an animal lovers dream. The room was spectacular with the perfect view over the loch, and very dog friendly 🐾🐾. The house is spotless and Marcin provides a very tasty breakfast and made me superb plant based one specially. Great decking place and lodge to sit outside with BBQ for guest use and direct access to the loch for swimming. Less than a minute drive to The Boatshed cafe and 5 min drive from Lochgoilhead. We cannot wait to come back. Marcin and his team have great plans for developments too including a Sauna and yoga pod so watch this space 🩵

Total stay was formidable, a great host who made a delicious breakfast, the best we had in Scotland, he’s also very helpful in advising you where to go or eat, making a reservation for the restaurant. The B&B is located at the lake, a beautiful spot where you can relax outside or inside in the well decorated interior. It’s spotless 👏🏻.

United KingdomNothing. The only observation, and definitely not a complaint, was the breakfast. While delicious and perfect, they'd have saved money by asking what we wanted in our fry up rather than giving us the full works, so some food was left over.
Wonderful. Idyllic. Very dog friendly - the owner's son even threw stones into the loch for my dog. Very comfortable bed, nice room, and the owner was informative and helpful. Even saw a seal!
