Small things but the hot water wasn’t super consistent (essential after a dip in the lake!) and the double bed was quite small. Otherwise a wonderful stay - We’ll be back!

We were expecting it to be more rustic but were v pleasantly surprised at how well modern and clean the cabins felt. The kitchen was very well equipped. Beautiful views of the lake, it felt incredibly peaceful with just the sound of the ducks and heron. Our boys loved the games room and playing with the outdoor chess set. Lovely dinner had at Nicks cookery school. Didn’t get to use the sauna but a great touch, especially since you can swim in the lake.

There isn’t much to fault at all but perhaps a bathroom mirror which shorter people and children can use could be put up easily alongside the other one.

Beautiful log cabin set around Scotland’s only Lake of Menteith. Everything was exceptional from cleanliness to facilities and location for further exploration of Scotland. Stirling is around 25 minutes drive away and you are able to do a big shop as the cabins are self catering. The closest shops are in Aberfoyle where souvenir shops and restaurants were to be found. Stirling Castle, the Trossachs Trail, the Blair Drummond Safari Park, Birds of Prey Centre and surrounding areas of Inchmahome Island are all within 20-30 minutes drive. Nick Nairns Cooking School is open from Wednesday-Sunday and seems like a good local choice. For take away options, Callander has pizza, Indian and fast food options. Edinburgh and Glasgow are both an hour’s drive away and are worth exploring if desired. However it’s the location of the Port of Menteith, with its beautiful setting on the lake, far from the madding crowds is a beautiful place to rest, reflect and recover. The quality of our family break was superb, nothing was too much trouble for the kind folk who run the place. The beds were comfy, kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook and dine with, recycling and the use of environmentally friendly products were particularly good to see as well as the emphasis on recycling. The Games room provided us with entertainment such as pool, table tennis and DVDs. Other facilities included a sauna by the lake, tennis court and access to outdoor pursuits like swimming, fishing and canoeing. There is much to explore nearby too, the lush settings and facilities are so relaxing and we hope to return soon.

The bedroom overlooking the lake had very steeply sloping ceilings which can't be helped because of the chalet design, but we couldn't stand upright, also the upstairs shower room was really lacking in space, it would have been better as a loo and sink only. the 2 single beds are better suited to children, our group of 6 were all adults.

The views of the lake were stunning, the air was so fresh and the location was very peaceful. The chalet was very comfortable and very well equipped. We loved the wild birds and also the ducks kept us very amused. We were lucky enough to see ospreys from the patio. The view of the lake from the bedroom was second to none. Downstairs bathroom is really luxurious.

It would be absolutely perfect if there was a café within walking distance since we are avid coffee lovers.

The cabin was very clean and the facilities were adequate for all our needs. The location was amazing since we were surrounded by nature, and the lake was beautiful, brimming with wildlife. We also had fun in the games room thanks to the presence of table tennis equipment, so that was a huge plus! There were also a lot of nice natural places to visit nearby, within a relatively close distance with a car, be it lakes or forests.

Brilliant, secluded location right on the water. My 5 year old loved the swings, play house and the ducks coming to meet her every morning for breakfast. The 2 minute walk to Nicks restaurant was a bonus for delicious Venison medallions. Will be back again.

We had a wonderful stay at Lochend Chalets and can't recommend it enough! The chalets were tidy, clean, and incredibly comfortable, offering a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. It's an affordable yet high-quality getaway, perfect for unwinding and enjoying nature. One of the standout features was how environmentally friendly the site is, which we really appreciated. It’s also a family-run business, and the warm hospitality made us feel right at home. We loved waking up to ducks visiting us every morning—such a charming touch! The abundance of wildlife around the area added to the experience. During our stay, we dined at Nick’s Restaurant, and the food was absolutely fantastic—highly recommended! The location is also great, with easy access to Stirling, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, making it a perfect base for exploring. We will definitely return and are already looking forward to our next visit!
