Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was nothing. Everything was perfect.
I emailed prior to arriving to enquire if I could check in early. This request was granted and Fiona was very prompt in her communication with myself. Fiona gave us a lovely welcome as did Riley and Pip. Beautiful house in stunning location. Parking is across from the guest house which was ideal. Our room didn’t have an en-suite but we had our own private bathroom across from our room. Due to this we were provided with dressing gowns. Our room was the red room and it was a beautiful room looking out to the back garden. It had everything you could need. Plenty storage space, hospitality tray with an assortment of teas and coffee and biscuits. Fresh bottles of water daily. The bed was a king size and very comfortable. Fiona took our order and time for breakfast the night before. There is plenty options for breakfast from cereal to fruit to pastries and a delicious cooked breakfast. I emailed Fiona to inform her I was vegetarian. She went out her way to provide me with a delicious choice of vegetarian food for breakfast which was much appreciated. Fiona is very hospitable and we enjoyed many’s a chat and cup of tea while she informed us of places to visit and go for dinner. Nothing was too much trouble. The dogs were very friendly and enjoyed attention from guests. Perfect location to explore this beautiful island. Thank you Fiona for everything. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful house, well located for access to Bruichladdich , Port Charlotte, Portnahaven Bridgend. Nothing was more than 30minutes away. Comfortable beds, well appointed bedrooms and beautiful bathrooms with great showers. Towels, bathroom extras, tea and coffee making and biscuits etc all added to the welcome. Fabulous breakfasts - don’t miss it and give yourself time to do it justice. Buffet for cereals, fruits, yogurt, juices etc but the cooked breakfasts are exceptional. Fiona is the most welcoming of hosts - nothing is too much trouble. Great advice for things to do around the island. We’ll be back.

United StatesNot much to say here, only issue I had is the same issue I have everywhere, the pillows are never supportive enough. But I was able to make it work.
Great location, great host. Fiona went above and beyond to help us get the right contacts on Islay. Breakfast was excellent and I hope to visit both Islay and Loch Gorm House again in the future.

United KingdomA mini fridge in the room for chilled water, would have been good. However, the host had fixed that with a bottle of water, which was chilled, on each bedside table every day. So really there was nothing to dislike.
Beautiful bedroom, fantastic view. Very comfortably furnished with lounge chairs to enjoy the view. Huge bathroom with walk-in rain shower and a roll top bath with a view of the sea. Lovely

CanadaHonestly, nothing.
The breakfasts were simply perfect. Even on our last day, when we had to leave early, Fiona had prepared a packed lunch for us to take along. All our dinners had been booked in advance, as well as transportation to and from the restaurants. It is nearly impossible to receive better service than this. In addition, we were able to learn a great deal about Islay by chatting over breakfast about the local customs and way of life.

United StatesLoch Gorm House is amazing. The view is incredible and the hospitality is wonderful. The breakfast was fantastic! I would highly recommend a stay in this beautiful guesthouse. The house is located very close to Bruichladich Distillery which was our favorite tour of all the ones we went on. Definitely worth booking a tour there. The house is also great for birdwatching. We saw several new species for us by just looking out our bedroom window.

We liked the most a couple of hings: The quality of the house, nice and cosy. Fiona made all her possible to make our stay extraordinary. Booking restaurants for us for dinner (could be a challenge otherwise). Sharing places worth a visit (eg. Oysters place). Sharing the history of Islay. The breakfasts were fantastic, take an extra coffee (and peers in coffee) for me. Finally the situation is perfect to visit the Island.

United StatesEverything was perfect, nothing to add here.
Fiona was an outstanding host, very caring, so pleasant, nice and accommodating. She was incredibly helpful in guiding us during our stay with her. She even did laundry of our clothes since we had been on the road for a few days. The room was very large, especially the newly renovated attached bathroom. Her breakfast was amazing, a very large spread to start off our day. Top notch B&B with a top notch host in Fiona, the best host we have stayed with in all our travels. Can't wait to stay with Fiona again. We highly recommend staying at Loch Gorm house with Fiona.
