Very tired decor in most areas and an accessible shower that couldn’t contain the water, using it flooded the floor to the extent that it came out of the bathroom! It is a wet room but it should work properly as it was it was too slippery to safely use, I wonder how many disabled guests use the shower or room. Premium prices in the only food option The Linden Tree pub and a small selection of beers that are nationally available, this is the North East with a proud heritage of ales where are they? A burger for £20 is hard to justify in such shabby surroundings. The food was good just overpriced and as mentioned the staff were great.

Great location, great staff and good accessibility for wheelchair users. Despite a tired interior the staff in the hotel and pub were helpful and friendly and an asset, thank you.

Thinness slice of black pudding we have ever been serviced on first morning. Exacerbated by only get half a black pudding on second morning . Very dissappointing. Threadbare Carpet on main stair. Some redecoration required in bedroom. Signs of rising damp in basement. Building looks tired

Check in very pleasant. Linden Tree restaurant good staff. Room was very comfortable.

The onsite pub, which was the only place for evening meals was very disappointing, food could only be rated as terrible

Hotel was in need of a refurb but still pleasant, staff were very good and swimming pool nice

the remote for the tv in the room didnt work and at the end of the night we couldnt get the tv to turn off which somewhat spoiled the nights sleep. there was no phone in the room to contact reception and let them know. this was also an inconvenience when wanting ice for the room for the ice bucket that was provided. the room was too hot and the a/c didnt really make a difference. there was no fridge in the room, this would have been handy. Only one tv in the Linden tree bar, none in the hotel bar, making watching live sport a challenge. Linden tree bar closed promptly at 11pm. Billiards room closed at 10pm, this cut our night short. Our plan was to check out at 11am then use the spa facilities, as we arrived late the night before, they were closed. We were told we`d have to be out of the facilities at 11am too, which was disappointing. We did manage to use the spa area, albeit for an hour.

Breakfast was nice with a good view of the golf course. the bed was very comfortable too

The prices are ridiculous. We bought a single & a double rhubarb gin and lemonade and it was £32. We ordered 2 starters, 2 main and 2 pints of larger and it was £96- the food was gorgeous to be fair but the price was a bit steep. Although I expected an ‘old’ building I thought it was a bit too dated. I cannot comment on the spa or pool as I didn’t get to experience it (hubby wouldn’t join me and I wouldn’t go alone). I wanted to book a massage but they finished at 3.30 & we had a day planned and would t be back so I missed my change… I was gutted. Again, my fault though. The bed seemed so small. It was a double and I felt like we had no space at all and my feet seemed to hang off the end.

The staff were all lovely and very helpful. The rooms were very clean and the bed really comfortable The place was so quiet and peaceful- that’s exactly what I needed. The view from our window and the outside of the property was gorgeous, all greenery. The elder guy who works in the hotel Bar (from Italy) was such a lovely man. We talked to him for ages. The guy at the other bar was very helpful when recommending what drinks and things to have.

There was no restaurant in the hotel for evening meals, and the only place to eat was a pub on the grounds called Linden Tree Pub. The first night's meal was okay but not very nice and the second nights was just awful even though it was just fish and chips, both chips and fish were soggy, and the tartare sauce and mushy peas were served in horrible rusty looking containers. Again, the duty manager helped and reduced our bill. I would not recommend that pub to anyone. When we go away, we always look forward to a nice dinner but unless the restaurant opens up again in that hotel we will not be back as it is too far to go anywhere else around it. I just don't understand a McDonald's hotel not having a proper restaurant.

All staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. My husband had a fall in the room, and I had to go to reception to get someone to help. They helped straight away and lifted my husband. He had a bleed to his head and the duty manager noticed later that it was still bleeding and put some plasters on. She also checked in the morning to see he was alright. She was extremely helpful as were all the staff. I don't know why there was not a phone in the room as I had some distance to get to reception. The breakfasts were also excellent, and they were served in the main hotel.

decor generally a bit faded, some areas needing painting updating. another bin closer to the spa entrance would be good. we didn't see the dustbin labelled Dog poo, till almost the end of our stay, as we were staying near the spa.

walk in grounds, with dog. very pleasant location. lovely views across grounds.

The State of the room...... Only standard rooms are dog friendly but the state of the standard room was awful given the price. Grout was black and fallen apart, Silicon seal was rotten & room smelt slightly of damp. Given it was only one night we didn't bother changing anything and just chucked th window open !

Staff were great and actually made the stay !! Liked the onsite Pub which was dog friendly !

The pool area was a little worn but the pool itself was perfectly fine and the hot tub as well as steam and sauna.

Excellent location, very quiet and peaceful. The staff were really on it with service and very polite and helpful. The spa facilities were good and staff were very kind. Room was good and larger than expected, beds very comfy and all clean. A hot Breakfast was made to order as well as continental - the black pudding was special! The on-site pub food was also very good for dinner and drinks with some different options to just standard pub grub!
