Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomVery tired decor in most areas and an accessible shower that couldn’t contain the water, using it flooded the floor to the extent that it came out of the bathroom! It is a wet room but it should work properly as it was it was too slippery to safely use, I wonder how many disabled guests use the shower or room. Premium prices in the only food option The Linden Tree pub and a small selection of beers that are nationally available, this is the North East with a proud heritage of ales where are they? A burger for £20 is hard to justify in such shabby surroundings. The food was good just overpriced and as mentioned the staff were great.
Great location, great staff and good accessibility for wheelchair users. Despite a tired interior the staff in the hotel and pub were helpful and friendly and an asset, thank you.

United Kingdomthe remote for the tv in the room didnt work and at the end of the night we couldnt get the tv to turn off which somewhat spoiled the nights sleep. there was no phone in the room to contact reception and let them know. this was also an inconvenience when wanting ice for the room for the ice bucket that was provided. the room was too hot and the a/c didnt really make a difference. there was no fridge in the room, this would have been handy. Only one tv in the Linden tree bar, none in the hotel bar, making watching live sport a challenge. Linden tree bar closed promptly at 11pm. Billiards room closed at 10pm, this cut our night short. Our plan was to check out at 11am then use the spa facilities, as we arrived late the night before, they were closed. We were told we`d have to be out of the facilities at 11am too, which was disappointing. We did manage to use the spa area, albeit for an hour.
Breakfast was nice with a good view of the golf course. the bed was very comfortable too

United KingdomThe prices are ridiculous. We bought a single & a double rhubarb gin and lemonade and it was £32. We ordered 2 starters, 2 main and 2 pints of larger and it was £96- the food was gorgeous to be fair but the price was a bit steep. Although I expected an ‘old’ building I thought it was a bit too dated. I cannot comment on the spa or pool as I didn’t get to experience it (hubby wouldn’t join me and I wouldn’t go alone). I wanted to book a massage but they finished at 3.30 & we had a day planned and would t be back so I missed my change… I was gutted. Again, my fault though. The bed seemed so small. It was a double and I felt like we had no space at all and my feet seemed to hang off the end.
The staff were all lovely and very helpful. The rooms were very clean and the bed really comfortable The place was so quiet and peaceful- that’s exactly what I needed. The view from our window and the outside of the property was gorgeous, all greenery. The elder guy who works in the hotel Bar (from Italy) was such a lovely man. We talked to him for ages. The guy at the other bar was very helpful when recommending what drinks and things to have.

United KingdomThere was no restaurant in the hotel for evening meals, and the only place to eat was a pub on the grounds called Linden Tree Pub. The first night's meal was okay but not very nice and the second nights was just awful even though it was just fish and chips, both chips and fish were soggy, and the tartare sauce and mushy peas were served in horrible rusty looking containers. Again, the duty manager helped and reduced our bill. I would not recommend that pub to anyone. When we go away, we always look forward to a nice dinner but unless the restaurant opens up again in that hotel we will not be back as it is too far to go anywhere else around it. I just don't understand a McDonald's hotel not having a proper restaurant.
All staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. My husband had a fall in the room, and I had to go to reception to get someone to help. They helped straight away and lifted my husband. He had a bleed to his head and the duty manager noticed later that it was still bleeding and put some plasters on. She also checked in the morning to see he was alright. She was extremely helpful as were all the staff. I don't know why there was not a phone in the room as I had some distance to get to reception. The breakfasts were also excellent, and they were served in the main hotel.

United KingdomThe State of the room...... Only standard rooms are dog friendly but the state of the standard room was awful given the price. Grout was black and fallen apart, Silicon seal was rotten & room smelt slightly of damp. Given it was only one night we didn't bother changing anything and just chucked th window open !
Staff were great and actually made the stay !! Liked the onsite Pub which was dog friendly !
