Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBeautiful B&B. Lots of interesting features about it and everything was clean and comfortable. My bedroom was really spacious with ensuite and had everything I needed. Andy & Sophie were warm, friendly and welcoming - awesome breakfast (thank you, Sophie). My dog settled quickly. I thought I was in the Wye valley for a walking/canoe break with the pooch, but it turned out that Lea House became a really memorable part of it as well. Literally across the road from an excellent dog walking path up to the woods. Across the road from an excellent village shop and next to a great pub that does really good food.

United KingdomThe owners were incredibly friendly. Thdy allowed me to check in early when i emailed in advance. Breakfast was completely tailored for what i wanted and when. As I was travelling alone in a rental car Andy even helped me park and wirh directions and stayed up until I got home after i had been out late at a wedding, and recommended some local sights to see. Really quaint, characterful, cosy interior design. It was an absolute treat to spend a night in their getaway and I wish I had booked for longer. Huge bedroom with comfy, very large bed too!

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing!
From the warm welcome on arrival from Andy, we knew that Lea House was going to be the perfect base for our 4 night stay near Ross on Wye.The newly refurbished bathroom and comfortable bedroom had everything we needed for our stay, with quality toiletries and an excellent selection of beverages to choose from. We were particularly pleased with the charging points on both bedside cabinets. But the real cherry on the top of the icing of our stay was the fabulous breakfasts lovingly cooked by Sophie every morning. Making our choices every evening from the extensive breakfast menu meant that our freshly cooked meal arrived promptly and was absolutely delicious. My husband especially enjoyed Sophie's homemade marmalade on his toast. Sophie's knowledge of the area and advice on places to visit and things to do certainly helped too. We would definitely look to stay here again if we are in the area and hope that Andy and Sophie continue to welcome guests for many years to come. The local village shop across the road also surprised us! It had everything we needed for evening snacks etc and the Crown Inn next door was also very convenient for a meal and a pint, although not the greatest portion sizes for the price but tasty none the less.

Lea House Bed & Breakfast is an absolute delight and one of the most welcoming places we’ve stayed. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Sophie and Andy, who are not just excellent hosts but genuinely lovely people—friendly, helpful, and always on hand if needed, without ever being intrusive. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and full of character, with a super-comfy bed that gave us a great night's sleep. The whole house is steeped in charm and history, with thoughtful touches throughout and a cosy guest lounge complete with books, a fireplace, and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was an absolute highlight. We loved the pre-order system the night before—everything was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. From a hearty full English to homemade granola and preserves, the quality of the produce was evident, and nothing was too much trouble. The location was ideal for us—peaceful and scenic, yet within easy reach of Ross-on-Wye, the Forest of Dean, and some lovely country walks. Parking was straightforward, thanks to Andy’s help navigating the spaces. All in all, Lea House ticked every box. It offered the perfect combination of comfort, character, and care. We both felt truly at home and left feeling rested, well-fed, and already looking forward to a return visit. If you're after a proper B&B experience with genuine hospitality and charm, we’d thoroughly recommend Lea House.

Beautiful 500 year old house with character. Had the twin room which was the perfect size for me, my son and our 🐶. En-suite bathroom was a good size. Had use of a living room but didn’t use it. Dining room a good size for the number of guests (it was full). Breakfast was fantastic, especially the full English. Homemade jams marmalade and honey. Parking available. Hosts were amazing from the moment we turned up to the moment we left. Kind and friendly. Newly refurbished pub next door.

United KingdomWe were greeted by Andy, who was very friendly and met Sophie later, the owners of this lovely old house. The garden is lovely. Andy works very hard to keep it that way. Our rooms had a view overlooking. Bedrooms were large cosy, and both en suites were all new. We slept really well. The house is quirky, full of interesting, beautiful things. Loved it. Then the breakfast! Which was delicious, Sophie, who does the cooking she was so friendly and chatty, we met some other people staying too who also agreed they had enjoyed their stay too i felt this B&B is excellent value for money. Whilst there we had an evening meal at The Crown Inn, which had not long reopened after a refurb. It was very good too, although a little bit pricey but staff were friendly. The village stores across the road! Has everything, what a wonderful shop again the owner friendly. We visited Puzzlewood, which was brilliant. It was like we were in something from the Lord of the Rings filmset. We will definitely stay and Lea House Bed n Breakfast again. It's definitely our family stop over place on route to Cornwall to break up the long drive.
