How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The house is beautiful and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were delicious. Simon is a lovely hosts and he makes you feel very much at home. We appreciated being able to keep our car on site after we had checked out and until we were ready to leave.

Location 25 minute walk from Royal mile and very high standard of accommodation. Secure on site parking was an added bonus. Simon the owner was lovely. Breakfast was great.

Very good cooked breakfast- we had to choose the night before- I have the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs which was delicious and cooked freshly for each of us. Owner was very pleasant and helpful. Hotel was a short bus ride away from the centre- convenient and good to be away from the most hectic part of the city while the Fringe was in full swing.

What wasn't there to like, lovely surroundings, lovely staff and a nice place to lay your head after a busy day site seeing. Our host Simon couldn't do enough to make our stay memorable, he sorted everything thing out for us from recommending where to eat and booking a table for us to booking taxis

The property is well equipped, extremely clean, warm and welcoming. Very Tastefully decorated and furnished. Simon gave superb communication and was always on hand for advice on the area and nothing was too much for him.

Internet was a little intermittent but wasn’t a big problem .
It was immaculate, great location for me , bus stops very close by for journey in Edinburgh city centre .

Everything was very good. Nothing I didn't like.
The guest house was very nice and a good location from the city centre. Car parking is a big plus. Staff were very welcoming. Simon did a great job with breakfast and a provided info & advice with what to do and see etc.

I recommend it to everyone! Great location. 15 minutes by taxi to the castle, also available bus. Rooms small but very clean. Parking available. Delicious breakfast. Very nice and helpful service.

A little pricey, but location relative to old town Edinburgh is pretty decent and worth it in any case.
Beautifully decorated, very comfortable, nicely furnished, great location, Simon was a wonderful host who responded immediately to any queries, very polite and enjoyable to talk to. Breakfast was delightful with plenty of options. Check in and out was a breeze. Private parking was very convenient. 10 out of 10 great accommodation. Thanks Simon!

I suggest you to bring your own air dryer because the one in the room was a little bit uncomfortable (you have to keep pushing the button with the finger while using to make it work).
Simon welcomed us in the nicest way, giving us useful informations about the city and recommended places to visit and eat. The room was small but with everything we needed, and let me just say the bad has the most comfortable mattress ever. The room was always heated at the perfect temperature and the shower has a nice water pressure. They also serve a good breakfast of your choice from the menu, toasted bread with butter, conserves and orange juice. A quality stay, without any doubt.

WiFi was poor couldn't even do Google searches at times. Forgot to tell Simon the usb point on double socket next to bathroom not working. Tried 3 different leads none worked but fine when used 3 pin adaptor. The second floor is up a second flight of stairs, which we expected. However they are quite steep and narrow to go up and down and can be quite difficult to get your luggage up and down. Felt I was going into the gods at the theatre. They do have hand rails.
Shower was excellent. Premises look recently renovated and are very attractive.

No complaints. FYI there is no elevator and steps are a little steep but Simon was more than willing to assist with and luggage if needed.
Our room had a very comfortable bed and nicely decorated. The bathroom was small (no tub) but the vanity was ample and the shower was versatile (rain or spray) and wonderful to relax in. Breakfast was GREAT with nice choices you simply order the night before. Plus, we enjoyed sitting in the little garden area out back. Bus service as an option was easy to use to get to the Royal Mile. Simon as the host was very nice.

Mattress needs changing, the bathroom was good but very tiny (if you're of a large build, you'll have a problem), didn't realise the room wouldn't be cleaned when out for the day, given the price you'd expect it. Breakfast was a different layout each morning, though, for a hot breakfast if you don't like eggs you're gonna have a problem.
