How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

This beautiful property does, however, sit at the top of a significant hill. not too much of a problem unless you have mobility issues. the free parking along the harbour does make this less of an issue.
A true gem nestled in the heart of Tobermory’ . Our stay was an absolute delight from start to finish. The room was a haven of comfort, impeccably clean and thoughtfully appointed with every convenience we could need, from plush bedding to modern amenities. The attention to detail truly sets this place apart. Each morning began with a delicious, freshly prepared breakfast that provided the perfect fuel for exploring the stunning Isle of Mull. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and offered fantastic local advice. For anyone seeking a comfortable, well-located base with a touch of luxury and genuine hospitality, this charming B&B is the perfect choice.

The couple running it were absolutely lovely. The bedroom is a good size as is the shower room. Everywhere is very clean! The breakfast is laid out nicely and it's all lovely and fresh.

My partner and I loved our stay at Kirk Cottage. The breakfast provided was great and the host was amazing when catering to my gluten free needs. Location fab too, 5 min walk into Tobermory with great wee shops, pubs and restaurants. Room was great too, very comfy bed with en-suite. The hosts were very helpful when Storm Floris hit, which we very much appreciated. Would book to stay here again!

Didn’t dislike anything but think maybe larger bath towels would be nice.
Beautifully clean and fantastic host. Alison even helped us to create a packed lunch for our boat trip. Great selection at breakfast including fresh fruits.

Headroom was slightly restrictive as bedroom had sloping roof. But wasn’t too much of a concern. Might be harder for a six footer!
Very clean, provided everything you needed and more. The malt in the room was a lovely touch. Super friendly hostess. Very enjoyable stay.

Bedrooms are on top floor with one sloped ceiling- fine for us but if you are very tall might be more difficult.
Alison was very friendly and helpful- a great host. Beautiful & very comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Walk or drive to the town centre. Parking available on street in front of house.

Sloping ceilings a slight issue for tall people. Not anybody's fault. Older cottages are like that. Excellent host and breakfast more than made up for a couple of bumps on the head.
Very warm welcome and help during stay. Excellent breakfast. Very clean room and comfortable bed.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Kirk cottage. Location was great. The room was immaculate and the bed was very comfortable. We were particularly impressed with the attention to detail (my partner especially enjoyed his wee dram!). Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We would definitely stay again!

Perfect location in Tobermory - about a 5-10min walk down to the Harbour with all the restaurants with fantastic views on the way. Street parking was free and easy to find in early April. The room is beautiful and has everything you need. You can tell that the owners put a lot of thought, attention to detail and love into this place. The owners were lovely and very helpful.

Exceptional continental breakfast, a fantastic spread. Alison, our host, was extremely helpful with advice about local places of interest and great places to eat. We loved our stay and recommend Kirk Cottage without hesitation. The piece de resistance was Alison delivering my forgotten jacket to the ferry wharf just as we were about to get on board! Thank you Alison, for everything.

Great B&B, very comfortable and exceptionally clean. Nice touches in the rooms, lovely owners. Good location, bit of a hill to walk up but worth it as the views are amazing. Nice continental style breakfast, good shower. The roof eves are very slanted so a few bumped heads but all added to the charm of the place. Thanks Alison for a fab stay.

We’ve just enjoyed an extremely comfortable stay for three nights, the hosts Alison & Graham welcomed you and couldn’t do enough for you, they certainly go the extra mile, rooms very comfortable with lots of added extras, even a wee dram of decanted whisky and chocolate ( my favourite ) The breakfast is continental with everything you could possibly need including fresh local smoked salmon, lots off choice. Would we stay again ? Without a hesitation, one of the best B & Bs we’ve stayed in, can’t wait.
