Expensive for what it was. More expensive than most of the category with a very old building missing care. Everything is charged additional (parking, dog, breakfast). Old rooms and very old lift.

Hot breakfast, there wasn't a lot of choice, bacon, and scrambled egg! Bacon could have been cooked more. Scrambled egg was very watery,pale in colour with no taste. Also, restaurant staff walked into the breakfast room with a frying pan filled with bacon and tipped it into the tray on the hot servery! The yoghurt was placed in front of the bread baskets, which caused cross contamination wheat soya, etc...

This hotel is lovely. The staff are polite, helpful, and friendly.

Our room was very hot also no opening window in the bathroom and the ventilation fan was not working so when showering it was very steamy

Obviously the rebrand means not everything is fully up and running yet, breakfast had some cooked elements available, but more choice would have been nice. Having said that everything that was there was lovely.

Had.previously visited when Kings Hotel. Things were just the same. Sorry to say the hot plates do not keep the food hot. Both the bacon and eggs were barely warm.

The room was quite small for a hotel by this particular brand. With 2 people in this room it would be very claustrophobic. There was paint peeling from the ceiling, and paint chipped around the bath. The room was on a decline, as when i laid on the bed the mirror on the wall was not straight, and when I put my drink down by the door to let myself it was tipped towards 1 side.

The staff were amazing and nothing was too much hassle for them. The water pressure was fantastic and water was very hot. Breakfast was a nice selection, but the only cooked options was scrambled eggs and bacon (not that i am complaining that was was lush). I did have a lovely view from the limited view of the window,

We stayed in the same room nearly a year ago and reported a couple of maintenance issues. They hadn’t been fixed on this visit. Biggest gripe is the dog-friendly aspect. This hotel charges £30 for a dog to stay, which is the highest of the Brighton prices I’ve seen. However, the room wasn’t deep cleaned and still smelt of ‘dog’; not massively but enough to be noticeable. Also, many of the other dog friendly hotels in Brighton offer something for the dog, ie a bed, bowls, even treats. For £30, you get nothing at all. I’m not sure how that fee can be justified.

Great location, friendly staff and request for specific room was accommodated. It is a ‘you get what you pay for’, but there’s nothing wrong with that!
