Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CyprusSmall room with no service. Clogged sink (asked the bar staff to fix it - no result). Room seemed not to be cleaned and maintained properly.

Isle of ManI don't think there were staff specific to the accommodation - I think they worked the bar too which I didn't venture into with the kids.
location was excellent; it was cheapest in central Liverpool - I'd say we got what we paid for. Shower had good water pressure. Even though there were only 3 of us we got a room with 6 beds (2 sets bunks + 2 singles) which was great.

New ZealandThe shower didn't drain properly when I arrived, but they sorted it. Some nights were noisy as it is on a street with a few bars with singers but the hotel provided some earplugs.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Room was really clean. There's a microwave and coffee machine which is handy if you want to heat food.

United KingdomNothing. Exceeded expectations for the price paid.
Room was spotlessly clean and decent space. Is in a perfect very central location. Saw previous comments about noise but I'm a deep sleeper and didn't hear a thing. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast also provided which was fruit, juice, yoghurt and porridge with pastries also available. Not a cooked breakfast, was basic but couldn't complain for the price, it was a welcome addition.

PolandThe downside is the night live. The hostel is located along at one end of Mathew Street, with bars that are open late with loud music. And daily street cleaning and bar deliveries from the early morning. If you are a light sleeper that might be an issue.
Very standard big city hostel. Bar down stairs and a couple of floors with rooms and a handful of dorms. No real sitting / leisure area, there is an area downstairs with a couple of chairs and coffee/tea machine but it is at the same time the check in (and out) area. Staff very friendly and helpful (during day/evening behind the bar, and there is a night shift as well). Central location in Liverpool, and easy access to public transport. The room was clean and in decent state. A small choice needs to be made between ventilation (open windows) or reduce the sound from outside (closed windows).

IrelandThe shower situation mentioned above. Also a real breakfast would have been a nice option!!
Fantastic as always but I will say to need to sort out the showers as the curtain wasn't long enough and floor got drenched!! With only one hired towel it was a real inconvenience to both dry myself and mop up the river of water on the floor! Almost slipped getting out so it is a real health and safety matter! Thanks again

AustraliaNo aircon and inadequate fan
Noise wasn't as bad as we were able to close the window but a fan big enough to suit the 6 bed dorm would have been a solution, plus a power point to plug it into.

AustraliaWas very noisy as we could not close window - no air condition and the room was very humid. Fan supplied was useless for six people to benefit. Shower room needs mat when you get out not concrete. Had an awful roommate. No consideration for other 4 roommates. Was noisy at 1-2 am. Kept light on - opened curtains, had a long shower at 2.30am then was still noisy afterwards until reprimanded to keep quiet and turn off light.
Bed was really comfortable, location perfect. Staff excellent

United KingdomNo staff to speak to so as such we missed out on the breakfast I'd paid for as we hadn't been told when it was or where it would be. Would've been nice to speak to an actual person. We did manage to get a cup of tea at least - but we had to go ask at the bar as milk hadn't been replenished. The girl we spoke to was helpful. The room was really hot though - even with the tower fan that was provided.
The location was perfect for us - just yards away from the Cavern Club. The room was a decent size for us. The online check in/out process along with the digital key system was easy to navigate. Nice to have the fan in the room as its been so hot lately.

United KingdomTo be honest not ideal if you want an early night slap bang in the middle of the Liverpool City nightlife. Was having difficulty sleeping, was hearing so many live bands, and night clubs music, made for an interesting mash up mix if different music in the late night. Eventually fell asleep, what more does one expect for £24 a night, can't beat the price ideal for party people wanting a drink, enjoy the night life and crash out in a shared accommodation.
Cheap as chips, staff friendly, clean what more can you ask for £24. Okay shared but you get a locker, was worth it just forva shower, a place leavev uggage whilst done sightseeing.
