How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Dinner in restaurant was not good value for money, over priced for small portions, although good local produce.

Verified reviewWe received a warm welcome and the staff remained very courteous and helpful throughout our stay. The view from the restaurant and bar is exceptional - such a beautiful location. Very conveniently located next to the ferry port and halfway between Fionnphort and Tobermory. Breakfast had a great selection for continental and a good hot menu. The pool was freezing cold but it was a nice-to-have at the end of the day. The foot spas, sauna and steam room were lovely and clean.
The restaurant was delicious but a little overpriced. The hot breakfast menu should be available from 7am given that the price is the same and some guests are catching early ferries. Frustrating that the mud room in the spa was closed.

Verified reviewA relaxing and peaceful stay at a beautiful hotel. The setting and furnishing of the property was excellent.
The property at our visit had a large booking staying onsite, which impacted our breakfast on the first morning. Despite the longer wait to be seated for breakfast the cooked food and service provided was still to a fabulous standard.

Verified reviewThe staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and always on hand to handle any questions. The manager Miguel was particularly welcoming and the restaurant staff professional and accommodating during the busy breakfast sessions.
Not a problem as such, but the walk from our room to the reception, restaurant, bar or spa was fairly long, with several stairs and lengthy corridors to navigate. I didn’t see a lift in the hotel but I may be wrong.

Verified reviewGreat location. Lovely room.
Room was a long way from the reception and up and down a number of stairs. No lift was available- or certainly we and others were not advised of one, nor about the stairs. If you have large suitcases this is a real issue. A large organised group arrived on our second day so upon arriving at breakfast the next day, we and a number of others were told we needed to take breakfast in the lounge area of the restaurant. Sitting on sofas to eat is not great. The restaurant should make better provision for guests or at least advise them that the breakfast area is ‘booked out at certain times. I do not expect this from a 4* property.

Dinner was expensive, a table d’hote menu would be good. Could be served before 8, to preserve the time for the expensive a la carte menu.

Verified reviewQuite a modern property situated on the coast with lovely views from the bar / restaurant areas. It's away from any town centres so unless you're willing to drive somewhere for a meal you'll be dining at the hotel. We had dinner and breakfast and whilst the staff tried their best they were just overwhelmed / understaffed, as seems to be the case in so many venues since Brexit. Anyhoo, our room was pleasant, if very small, and as a bed for the night en route to other destinations, it was perfectly fine if expensive.
Harried staff couldn't really cope with the volume of guests it seemed and our dinner suffered as a consequence (waiting for menus, wrong drinks delivered, part of our meal delivered to another table and then collected and served - somewhat lukewarm - to us). But mostly the 'value for money' just wasn't there. It was a very expensive B&B indeed, even with recent price increases, for a fairly bog standard 4* hotel.

Verified reviewComfortable room, nice bar area and a delicious breakfast
The spa area is dated and follows a strange system. You need to take your shoes off before entering the spa area and no bathrobe or bathing shoes are offered. Additionally, the lockers for hotel guests don't lock and there are no separate showers apart from a few beside the pool and one in the sauna area. The sauna and steam room are quite small and were full upon our visit. The swimming pool is large mind you and perfect for a few lengths.

Verified reviewGood location, good food at restaurant with amazing desserts. Rooms were clean. Pool was great.
Shower cubicle too narrow in one room, there were 7 of us and we were forced to book 3 rooms but could easily have fitted in 2 family rooms with sofa beds as kids are young. Tired looking hotel and no lift or help with luggage, we had a lot as travelling for 2 weeks.
