How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNice big room, well catered for.
Maybe a bit aged, room needed aired before arrival but that may have been due to the unseasonably hot weather in Aberdeen.

Verified reviewLocation was excellent with easy walk to city centre
Everything else. Hotel extremely tired and unloved. Poor maintenance and very poor cleaning. Carpets worn downstairs and bedroom was extremely tired. Everything needed upgraded. The building obviously had been of very high standard a few years ago but no upgrades or preventive maintenance had been carried out for some time. Lack of evidence of a vacuum cleaner being used and the bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. All in all very very disappointing and we were on the verge of leaving and not staying overnight. Totally ruined our stay in Aberdeen.

Verified reviewI am giving The Inn at the Park a score of 10. This is not because it is a 5 star hotel. It is not. Far from it. However, for the price and the location and comfort and environment, with the bar, the breakfasts and restaurant, the people to meet, and excellent staff, this is a score 10 environment in which to stay. Near the centre of the city, less than 20 minutes walk to central Union Street, and this hotel is located in one of the best parts of Aberdeen, two minutes from the fabulous park, and there is free car parking. Stay here, don't imagine 5 stars, and enjoy the experience hugely.

Verified reviewNot far from city centre, beach, harbour and lovely park
Noise from seagulls every night and noise from a party in the bar directly below the room one night. Very dated but in process of being done up. Bed and pillows not very comfy.

Verified reviewStaff were lovely, friendly, helpful. Not too far from city centre.
The noise, there was a party on, which was noisy until well after midnight on the Saturday night. The seagulls were so noisy from crack of dawn. Out dated (but being done out). Bed and pillows not comfy.

Verified reviewHaving a fan in the room was a plus.
There was animal fur on the chair, and the chair itself was falling apart. No shower mat was provided.

Verified reviewIt’s perfectly between the local park and is easy walking distance to the city centre. The building itself is very clear and welcoming to anyone.
The only drawback was the humidity in our room, of course this can’t be helped as it is summer, but the staff were very friendly and nice enough to give us a fan to keep us cool.

Verified reviewThe chef came in our morning to prepare breakfast but the second morning a member of staff gave us breakfast as the chef didn’t turn up
If one member of staff didn’t have to check us in ,man the bar ,act as waitress and clean the rooms. We were asked if we needed our room looked after today? This lady was marvelous and was certainly put upon!,,

Verified reviewThe location was fine.
I checked in and was not informed at any point that breakfast needed to be pre-booked. My daughter and I went to breakfast at 7:30am and remained in the hotel until 9:00am, during which time no staff were present and no other guests arrived. I tried calling six times by phone but no reply although bedroom brochure implied staff would be available from 7.30am. Upon returning at 9:30pm, I inquired about breakfast for the following morning but was informed it was too late to request anything from the chef. In addition to the lack of breakfast service and lack of communication of such, the condition of the room was unacceptable. The curtains were hanging off the rails, so wakened early, there were chocolate wrappers and other rubbish under the bed, and the bath plug hole was totally blocked with hair. These issues clearly indicate a lack of proper housekeeping and maintenance. I spoke to the owner on our return and was informed by him that he would look into the matter and call me back the following day. He did not call. He sent an email simply saying nothing was going to be done, and no refund partially or otherwise. I realise this hotel is on the market for sale. I would certainly not return and would not recommend. Totally unacceptable customer service all round.
