Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

All the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel is beautiful. A wee hidden gem. The Spa was relaxing and offered a wide service. Food was fresh and lovely.

United KingdomDon't stick a sign on the wall warning customers of slippery floors - supply a shower mat and remove/reduce the risk.

United KingdomMy single room was okay but not special. I continue to dislike the playing of pop music at rather than having a background of classical music. It’s a fair choice of music but it cheapens the place whereas classical at breakfast would enhance it.
The building is magnificent

United KingdomCleaning was weird. Cleaners came in (bed was made), but it didn't seem like anything else had been touched. Coffee reserves were the same, towels hadn't been changed, even the floor hadn't been cleaned. Wifi was a iffy in the pod. Couldn't get connected no matter what we tried. Fortunately mobile reception was ok.
Stayed in a pod (separated from the main hotel), but was built very comfortably. Small, but cosy and had enough room for 2 people. Really well fitted out and was a great place to spend a few evenings while using as a base to get to Edinburgh, Falkirk, etc. Plenty of parking, nice restaurant and bar, good location (only a short drive to Falkirk, Glasgow, or the tramline into Edinburgh), and quiet. The spa and fitness area was lovely. Small gym, but had what I needed. A really nice sauna (got up to a toasty 80 degC and 80% humidity), great steam room, and lovely hot-tubs. Didn't order any treatments, but the place was well organised and obviously well maintained. Staff were lovely as well. Really helpful and willing to try to make our stay pleasant as they could.

United KingdomThe bed is a bit of a challenge to get in and out of due to it being against walls on both sides.

SwitzerlandWhen we arrived, there was noone at reception and no way to reach out to anyone. We waited around 10mins for someone to come check us in, while staff was passing by us and completely ignoring. One of the guys who walked by us at least several times without saying a word, finally came to check us in. During dinner it also looked like there was simply not enough personel - everyone waited long at each stage. Not sure if it’s always like this, or we were unlucky as there was some private event that night at the hotel
The exterior and interior was amazing! Nice dinner and breakfast at the restaurant.

United KingdomInstructions on how to find the switch to off fans would have been great, I was adjusting the underfloor heating without realising until I spent a second week in another cabin and everything was well labelled!
I stayed in the cabins in the woods, they had a small kitchen and terrace area which was great for making my own lunch while working away. The food is excellent and staff are very friendly.

United KingdomThe hotel had a delivery of outside wooden tables and unfortunately the brown pieces of cardboard was left on the floor along with the odd empty bottle, coathahger near the steps upto the pods.
The location was lovely and quite as we stayed in the pods which were comfortable. Plenty of walks through the adjacent woods spotted Deer and Squirrels on our doorstep in the evenings. Unfortunately, the nearby woods had remnants of bbq, bottles, burnt wood etc which we avoided as did many local dog walkers.

United KingdomStrangely, the housekeeping staff who brought us clean towels also took away our 2 little champagne flutes. They were just plastic reusable ones, but they belonged to us, and we were using them. Really strange that they'd be taken. It's a small thing but slightly annoying. Also, some of the kitchen drawer knobs and the hand towel holder were loose and could do to be tightened up. We couldn't figure out how to make up the sofa bed either.
We stayed in a woodland pod, which was fantastic. It was well equipped, warm, and comfortable. The spa treatments were fantastic. Shame there's no pool. The food was also really good.

The whole suite was absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. We were lucky enough to see the hotel getting ready for a wedding and as a recently engaged couple its making us consider Scotland and this hotel in particular as a destination venue for our wedding. Thanks so much for a lovely stay.

United KingdomFairly minor: cabins were perhaps a little close together. But given this, we couldn't hear the other pods, but we were on the end. TV was terrible. Telly itself was fine, but connected to Ariel network with a TV remote that didn't work. Wasps - under our pod there is what I presume a wasp bike. I would recommend this is attended to, there were many wasps. We had no issues from them apart from when they came into the pod, but just use a glass and card to catch and release. Given that wasps are pollinators and actually important part of our eco system (they are much more than irritants of picnics) and also given that the pods are in a forest 'ecological' setting, I would recommend that the bike is removed peacefully by a professional and not destroyed. But, that's just me, and I know many will think I'm nuts. Only major complaint (for us as I had some work things to attend to) linked to telly aswell: internet! Internet connection was really really awful despite routers being visible. Very slow speed, no connection, or frequent disconnection. Absolutely incapable of even running a firestick. This needs to be sorted. I suppose to many guests it's just a bed, but we just wanted to relax and largely stay put, and part of that required a good internet connection, aswell as a good book and board games obviously. Perhaps pods could have done with being set further back from the hotel, to create a real forest feel - although I appreciate there has to be a proximity to car park. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. A taste of forest living, but proximity to amenities, and spa if required. Pod design was perfect. Cleanliness was superb. Staff very good. Internet terrible
Structure, cabin itself was really quaint, cute and well designed. Hotel interior looked really lovely. Everywhere was very tidy and clean. Staff were attentive and informative. Resteraunt prices were surprisingly good value, a short menu but dishes really well cooked. Pod contained open plan: double bed, l shaped sofa with pull out bed, small deck and chairs, interior table and chairs, small fridge freezer, small analogue / Ariel TV, sink, dishes, kettle, shower and toilet (not open plan obviously).Glass front door and bathroom window only source of natural light which creates a real cosy feel I believe. Hotel was quite grand and well appointed. In the end, we never used the spa or hot tubs - but walked past them and they looked like good quality, and saw them being regularly and thoroughly cleaned. Hotel was actually really well situated to many activities in the local area. When we were there, there were two weddings. From the cabins we couldn't hear the guests / parties at all. Not sure if this would be the same if you were staying in the hotel. We wanted a cabin really tucked away, as if we were on our own. We were the last cabin in the line, our door opened up to thick selection of trees which was also what we wanted. However, some pods had paths right past their door. Whilst they all had blinds, it's good to have the door open (pods were very warm).
