How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

The room was really cluttered with heaps of nick nacks, 4 chairs, multiple tables. If there was less furniture it would be much more spacious. Not a deal breaker obviously, more feedback for the hotel :) Small bathroom and shower
We have big luggage (travelling for a while!) so requested a low floor and we got the lower level with only a few stairs :) kettle, mugs, wine glasses! We parked down the street next to the park for one night for about 12€. You can also use the park and ride (summer) at withdean leisure complex but it doesn’t make much of a difference price wise after you pay for parking and then the bus in and out of town to get back to your car. Depending how long you’re parked though!

Four flights of stairs 😀, but guess that can't be helped, just my arthritic knee was not happy.
Location was fab, comfy bed, spotlessly clean.

Slight struggle to open the door, as the lock seems to be old, but that’s bot a major issue at all!
All good, location great! Great stuff and beats room inside! Everyone were friendly and helpful!

It's a simple, inexpensive place in central Brighton, so not The Ritz, but comfy and friendly.
This was a bit like staying at a mate's house. Funky posters on the wall, comfy furniture, groovy wallpaper. The lady who welcomed me noted my height and gave me a bigger room, which was sweet. And she was kind enough to let me into my room when I locked myself out at 23.00! So sorry about that!!!

On entry I was genuinely Uh Oh but past the slightly jaded decor this was as good a value stay as I've ever had for £43. Proper double bed ... I slept well . Quiet area all things considered.
Baxter the receptionist was incredibly friendly & helpful . The room was COMPACT as per the ad but functional , I slept like a log , good hot water when need ... kettle , tea facilities ... Towels a decent size ! I'm a big lad. Parked in nearby Freshfield Rd full day.

The building is a bit old and the room on the third floor had a slightly low ceiling.
The location is fine, in a nice neighborhood from which you can walk to all the key spots in Brighton. Simple but cozy, very friendly staff. Good for a short stay.

It's basic accommodation but it's clean and very reasonable with great location if you're going for a night out.
For the price in this location it is unbeatable. After reading reviews I was definitely pleasantly surprised! If you're expecting the Ritz however you will be disappointed!

The bedsheets could have been better cleaned and additional blankets could have been provided since it is the winter season

Only issue was the boiling hot shower with no way to turn down the temperature.
Cosy clean room, everything we needed. The staff were lovely!

It's one of those properties with stairs to climb - just something to be aware of, if you have luggage.
The size of the room I was in was small but it was amazingly well equipped for the size. Everything that you could expect in a room like this was in some nook or corner - towels, tea, coffee, kettle, iron - you name it. The location is great. I could walk everywhere I wanted to be in the centre. The owner/caretaker was considerate and caring. She is half the reason I'd consider returning.
