Very homely and every aspect of our stay was exceptional. From the ‘get to know you’ and what you want to do on the island welcome, to the freshly cooked brownies and even gluten free biscuits which were cooked each day.

Had a great stay here, hosts were very friendly, breakfast was one of the best I have ever had, so much choice, the bed was really comfortable and had a lovely view of the sea from our room I would definitely recommend staying here and will return to enjoy it again.

Almost certainly the best B&B on the island. The attention everyone got from Gus and Sherry was very personal and helpful, room very clean and comfortable, and excellent breakfast. Very quiet and relaxed atmosphere.

We were made to feel very welcome from the time we arrived. The hosts were charming and so helpful. It was very clean and the beds were really comfortable. Outstanding choice of food for breakfast and fantastic attention to detail. We would highly recommend it.

Very welcoming hosts and very helpful. Facilities excellent. Lots of extras and the treats were superb, especially the pecan pie. Nothing was missing in making your stay comfortable. Lots of help with restaurants etc.

There was literally nothing that could have been better.

The breakfasts were delicious and beyond expectations for a vegetarian diet. Home made granola with additional nuts and seeds , fantastic. Location perfect for nearby attractions in Rothesay, lovely to walk home to the b and b along the shore in the sunset. Gus and Sherry were the perfect hosts, Going above and beyond for their guests.

Very welcoming. Wonderful view over the Kyles of Bute from our bedroom (No. 6). Breakfasts were excellent and beautifully presented. Plus lots of little extras which we very much appreciated. A lot of thought has gone into the modernisation of the property over the last few years and the decor reflects the extensive travels of the owners Gus and Sherry. It is undoubtedly one of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed in and that is all down to Gus and Sherry. We would have no hesitation in recommending this B& B to anyone.

Warm welcome from Gus and Sherry. Lovely property, beautifully presented. Decor was unusual and reflected owners’ interests and personality. Comfortable room with little extras like home made wine chilling with milk in small fridge as well as sweet home baked treats. Thoughtful items like pillow mist and masks made for relaxation. View from the bedroom of a wonderful rear garden which was a visual feast. Exceptional menu for breakfast, continental followed by cooked dishes offered traditional and unusual choices guests. Gus & Sherry are special hosts and make guests feel special. Highlander House is the model for any small hotel or guest house. Comfort, a little luxury, calm - what a combination for our short break. I had an absolutely delightful stay at Highlander House this past weekend and cannot recommend it enough! From the moment I arrived, the hosts Gus & Sherry made me feel incredibly welcome with their warmth and hospitality. The room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and extremely comfortable, ensuring a perfect night's sleep. Breakfast each morning was also a highlight. The attention to detail in every aspect of the service was impressive, and the cozy, charming atmosphere made my stay truly memorable. This bed and breakfast along with its hosts Gus & Sherry go above and beyond to ensure their guests have an exceptional experience. A well-deserved 10 out of 10!

This was a lovely place for a relaxing weekend away. Perfect hosts, beautiful B&B. Gus and Sherry are amazing hosts and made our stay very enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic food and a beautiful room. Didn’t want to leave. Would return in a heartbeat.

From the start we were welcomed by Gus. Shown to our room, at our leisure we joined him for a coffee to discuss best places to eat for dinner. Our room was immaculate, cosy and extremely comfortable. Bed was very comfortable. We faced beautiful gardens to the rear. We had tea and coffee facilities and lovely wee extras, Chocolates and bottles of water. Small fridge in room also. Bathroom was lovely with a spacious shower, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner for use also. You can Bluetooth your music through mirror in bathroom. Breakfast was delicious and Gus couldn’t be more obliging. Homemade Granola from Sherry was amazing and I don’t usually eat granola. I left with recipe. On second day we returned to our room and a small package was left with home baked pecan slices. We were contacted before arrival to ask if we had any dietary requirements.
