The shower drain was clogged and the toilet door's lock wasn't working properly.

Staff was very helpful. Very good location, with a quick walk to the city centre.

There was nowhere to hang clothes not even hook ! Also the door was banging every time another door was opened on the floor wich was quite annoying, I had to wedge a towel in the door to stop it.

The vibe and style of the room

We had trouble finding the place, mainly because of the confusing signage. The name Malacuna was only visible while walking on the pavement (on two small signs.) The name was not visible at all from the car as the signs were facing the other way,, plus the name of the bar was quite prominent, which we found to be misleading. We missed the location several times and were driving around awhile before we finally found the Malacuna.

An interesting and atmospheric old building, nicely modernised. The room was clean and simple with a very comfortable bed.

Not great signage - I got lost finding the room and then the reception the next day. Wasn’t asked if I had stayed there before so was a bit confused if I had a specific bed in the room.

Bed was really comfy and I had a great sleep

There was no clothes hanging rail in the room, no waste bin in the bathroom and the shower was cold water only. Very disappointing.

Staff were very helpful and the location was perfect, close to the centre and all facilities and entertainment. Room was recently decorated and very clean.

Building is a tired and you can see it's being refurbished perhaps not to tip top condition but it's OK.

It does what it says on the label. Central location. No frills accommodation but does the job. Staff 10/10.

Extremely noisy air condition/fans above the ceiling making noise all night (I stayed on 5th floor so presumably the air con system is on the roof?). Very thin walls between neighbouring rooms… Very basic amenities

Online check-in was completed prior to arrival, so not ideal to have to present ID again in person that delayed check-in. (Don't provide an online facility if this does not provide a more efficient check-in process). Staff lacked any personality, very robotic (different staff to when I stayed previously). The bulb in room 101 needs changing to a brighter wattage. The room is still dark when this is on. Luckily, there was also a side lamp. Otherwise, would have proved difficult getting ready.

Location. Bed comfort. Spacious bathroom. I had stayed here before when under different management so knew what to expect. This is a hostel with no frills, BUT does provide a 'surface level' of cleanliness and is a comfortable place to stay. It IS rough around the edges (some stains on surfaces and evident floor edges in rooms/shower head not 'detail' cleaned), but I simply needed a bed and a shower. The close proximity to the Mount Pleasant car park is my reason for staying here, and for that reason I would stay again. I bring my own travel kettle and cleaning wipes.

The room was o.k., although very warm would have been good with air con, tbh though it is a hostal and not a hotel, so that it was to be expected.

The location was good close to the centre of town and reasonable price considering we had to book last minute because another hotel cancelled our booking, via booking.com. So we had hoped of a good price for booking far in advance to only be let down last minute and booking.com didnt help in this matter!

Quite thin walls so could hear others in the corridor / rooms. The room was also very hot and had not been a particularly hot day (about 20 degrees and cloud).

Comfortable beds, basic room as described and required. They also provided toiletries in the shower which was a nice touch. Provided luggage storage and were really flexible on the check in time. Staff were friendly!

The hot water on the first day was a bit unstable, but it was fine on the second day. The second day, there was a male guest, but I had booked a female-only room.

On the first day, I stayed alone in a six-bed room. The staff allowed me to choose my own bed, for which I was very grateful. Each bed had its own small cabin and curtain.

Floor in the bathroom felt a bit dirty (also the wall hooked hangers are coming off), smell of paint was quite strong when we first arrived due to renovation (was no big deal, we got used to the smell quite quickly), tried contacting the hotel from the phone number about 3 times to no avail :(

Location was good (very close to city centre and tourist sites), amenities (soap, shampoo) were great, staff were friendly and helpful when our door lock stopped working

Checking in was a large queue and the staff were chatting away to each other - casually swearing and dropping the f*#k bomb in every other sentence. Quite unprofessional. As someone who lives in Hong Kong and was visiting Liverpool with my teens to see Lana Del Rey as part of a UK tour around - we were a bit shocked- really the use of foul language was appalling. We understood there was a level of stress and tension amongst staff but it spilt over into their customer service and delivery.

Great location - easy to walk from the train station to it. Rooms were ok - clean.
