Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe lack of provision for children’s beds in parents room.
The pool and spa facilities were lovely. The restaurant was quite good but bedrooms tiny and we had asked for two children (8&4yrs) to be in with their parents but one extra bed was put in our room (grandparents) and one in the parents room so they had to share a tiny bed!

United KingdomOur only gripes would be that the pillows were not overly comfortable, so would bring my own next time, and the shower temperature was tepid at best. My wife tried the spa showers as a comparison and she said the same, so Aslong as you’re not doing a big hair wash it’s bearable.
We liked our bedroom overall, it was well presented and spacious, the view of the grounds from our window was gorgeous! We absolutely loved that it was dog friendly and although we didn’t bring ours, definitely would bring her next time! The spa and gym facilities were good. Breakfast and all the staff were great and very attentive!

Lovely hotel with spa facilities. Very clean and well decorated throughout. Staff were friendly and helpful. Knowledgeable in restaurant about allergies. Food was delicious. 5 minutes out of Gloucester, quiet location but easily accessible for Gloucester and M5.

United KingdomIt is just a minor problem. We had a slight hazardous problem in the bathroom with a leaking pipe. So we were being extra careful not to cause ourselves any injuries. However, we did notify the reception staff as we were checking out with regards to the problem. We suggested that they get a plumber in to sort it out before their new guests arrived and checked into that room.
The surroundings were absolutely gorgeous, and the staff members were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious.

United KingdomOur room was clean but some of the features looked a bit tired and worn. This did not detract from our stay or plans to stay here again.
Great location in beautiful grounds. The staff were friendly and very helpful and despite the hotel dealing with 3 events they still manage to deal with our queries and any issues arising. A lovely spa area and our room was clean with a comfortable bed.

United KingdomOur shower flooded the bathroom ( faulty screen fitting). Our spa room overlooked the spa car park ( staff too?) And the deep gravel drive meant noisy cars at 7am each day.
The spa was good, but we did not have treatments, just used the other facilities. Very clean. Staff were helpful and friendly, throughout the hotel. Breakfast was plentiful and flexible.

United KingdomOur stay was disappointing overall unfortunately. Dinner options are very limited and the breakfast is a joke - 1/10 at best. Forget about the fact that they have a complicated system - (some cooked items can be paid for, whilst others are free etc) but the continental 'selection' was disastrous. Only mini croissants on offer, some unappealing cheese / ham shoved in the corner and just ok coffee. The staff were helpful and are clearly doing their best, but this is disappointing from a spa hotel and one that is rated at 4 stars. Suggestion - do away with the complicated options and simply include a decent buffet breakfast (hot and cold) with the room - you are charging enough to do this imo. Increase the size of the breakfast area as this was cramped at best. Luckily there is a fantastic bakery less than a mile away so we went there on 2 out of 3 of our mornings in the hotel! The bedrooms do need updating (despite saying this has recently happened) and it is not acceptable to push two beds together and call it a 'large double'.
Location was ok - suitable for exploring The Cotswolds and nearby Cheltenham. Staff were friendly and the bar area is nice for a relaxing drink.

United KingdomRoom was abit jaded and could be refreshed. I didn't use tge spa as I had my dog with me but it looked like this had been updated, rooms could use the same face-lift.
Location was quiet , parking excellent, very dog friendly although I do wish hotels would allow dogs in areas of the restaurant especially breakfast as trying to manage a self service element of selecting food when you can't leave your dog in the bar area means you do have to hope staff will assist you. I would like to highlight the excellent customer service from Daisy our server for dinner who on both evenings could not have done more for us.
