How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Verified reviewRoom Excellent large- Only disadvantage no lifts which could prove to be a pain for some.
We had dinner at the hotel, not great though. My steak was a bit tough. Staff friendly, however wine pouring wine perhaps ask to taste it first … and certainly do not ask to say when ! perhaps a little training ? There were six of us and maybe we stayed a little late (9PM) and when desert came around it seemed to be made by the waiting staff and not the kitchen, mine and my wife was 15mins after everyone else…. and it was only Affogato. One other quick note. Car park is small.

Verified reviewNice sized room with a comfortable bed. Good large bathroom with a big shower and lots of shelf space for wash bag, etc. (It's amazing how many hotel bathrooms are tiny and there is nowhere other than the floor to put your washbag/toiletires.) Windows in both bedroom and bathroom that can be opened for fresh air which is always a bonus. Proper coffee machine and pods. Plenty of parking for hotel residents and we found the staff super friendly throughout the hotel. A good selection of breakfasts available with hot food cooked to order.
No kettle although hot water was available via the coffee machine. No milk in the room so a trip down to Reception would be required to get some.

Verified reviewAlthough not in the city centre, its in a great location, great price, including parking and breakfast. Not expensive to get a taxi to the city centre. Intimate with friendly staff and has everything you need for a short stay. Stayed here a few times, highly recommended.

Verified review-nice building & grounds with parking onsite -friendly staff -spacious room with a comfortable bed and a huge en-suite & shower -superb breakfast -refreshment station with complimentary Tunnocks tea cakes & wafers as well as extra biscuits packs & milk on each corridor -in a leafy area of Sheffield, close to botanical gardens and various parks -very convenient for visiting UoS students staying at Ranmoor or Endcliffe student halls

The rooms were a little small, the full English breakfast was extremely disappointing, bacon and sausage were dry and very overcooked whilst the fried egg was undercooked, the entire meal was lukewarm at best

Dear Tim Thank you for your review. On the evening you stayed with us we were hosting a large wedding which unfortunately meant that we were unable to provide restaurant service as usual. We are unsure what you mean by 'staff no bothered' as we usually receive a large amount of positive feedback regarding our team, who take pride in that they do and strive to provide our guests with a welcoming service. Due to our hotel previously being a halls of residence, we appreciate the rooms are on the smaller side- if you choose to stay with us again please do let us know in advance so that we can try and assign you one of our larger rooms. On this occasion the bedroom was very warm even with the window wide open so I didn’t sleep well at all. Air conditioning would have been very welcome.

Verified reviewThe breakfast is super handy for getting going hiking or exploring, sets you up for the day and great value for money as it's included in the stay. Ideal location if you plan to hike and it's right by the botanical gardens which we gave a quick spin into as it was so close. Loads of restaurants nearby.Very safe area, and clean
It was a bit noisy as there was weddings two of the nights we stayed but also I wouldn't let it put you off staying. Also it can be hard to get on site parking especially if there is a wedding on. But one night we didn't, we just parked outside the hotel and it was absolutely fine so also not much of an issue.
