Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdom.....having to leave!
The vineyard, the geese, the chickens, the complimentary delicious and fresh breakfast left outside yr door like a secret present (if you go downstairs early you can smell the fresh baking), the plush common room where we drank cocktails and played Scrabble and said hello to the other guests. We loved the lovely, friendly host Shannon. We loved looking around the working fishing fleet in Hastings, and riding the funicular railway to the country park, and moules in the old town, and watching the sunset at the far end of the bay.....

FranceJust suggestions rather than complaints, but a shelf above the bathroom sink would be welcome, and a soap holder in the shower to avoid having to keep all toiletries on the floor. Also an extension lead from the floor-level power socket to allow you to boil the kettle on the table rather than on the floor
Nice-sized room with great view, friendly welcome, charming environment with horses, ducks, geese and chickens, complimentary breakfast delivered outside your room a nice touch

United KingdomErm all really nice actually but note no tv in room but I had my laptop. there is a large living room with sofas and tv though.
Host Shannon really lovely, spacious room, quiet night and good sleep, love seeing the animals and the veg and the budding vineyard. Breakfast was brought to room. Tea and coffee in room. Nice shower. Very friendly to my dog. Parking. I was able to use the fridge for some fresh food I had brought with me first day. Near Sedlescombe Rye camber sands and Lewes all the places I wanted to go to over weekend. Room has no tv so don’t forget to bring your iPad or laptop.

New ZealandThe house is in a great location in beautiful countryside near to Hastings, but next to a fairly busy road so you can hear traffic noise if you have the windows open - especially first thing in the morning. It wasn't bad - just something to be aware of if you are sensitive to road noise. I had ear plugs so that was fine. My room also had double glazing so shutting the windows would have resolved things too.
My room was amazingly spacious with wooden floors, an Oriental rug, a sofa and a very comfortable bed. There was a beautiful shared living room downstairs which opened onto a large deck and lawn. Watching the resident geese and chickens wander around was a bonus...as was the Help Yourself (via an Honesty box) home-made cake in the living room. All the staff were helpful and kind. A delightful continental breakfast was delivered to each room in a basket each morning - a cafetiere with fresh coffee and milk (plant based was an option), a savoury roll/pastry (I'm not sure what this was as it wasn't vegetarian so I didn't have it), a pain au chocolat, orange juice and a piece of fruit.

SlovakiaThe signage could be more visible when approaching from Dover; I whizzed past the left turn to the property at 50 mph and had to make a U-turn down the road.
This was an amazing stop on our road trip. The facility was super nice, with on-site parking, large and spacious rooms, complimentary breakfast served in a basket right to your doorstep, and friendly people to talk to in the lobby. The garden view was just superb.

NetherlandsOur stay was short, but good. Only slightly annoying thing I can think of is I couldn't find any power outlet close to the bed. As I recharge my phone at night and use my phone for my alarm clock, I had to charge the phone at a power outlet on the other side of the room and get out of bed to stop my phone's alarm in the morning.
Friendly host who thinks in solutions. We arrived a lot later on the check in day because we were stranded for about 4 hours with car trouble, host thought along and arranged everything perfect for us despite our car trouble.

We had a lovely stay in the Guesting House. The room is charming and spacious. It's also very tastefully decorated, with a beautiful garden view. We enjoyed watching the friendly chickens wandering past our bedroom window. The shared lounge space is wonderful and so cosy. The location is good, beautiful surroundings and very close to Hastings. Not far from the Eurotunnel in Folkestone either. We found the complimentary breakfast basket was very tasty, and such a thoughtful touch. The dog friendliness is so much appreciated by us dog owners! A big thank you to the team at Guesting House for their kindness, and warm and welcoming service.
