How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Tried to get a drink at the bar , no one there, waited, gave up and went to bed. 8pm!
Looking good following the refurbishment out front. Always made to feel welcome.

The breakfast was not very nice and it would have been nice to have a fridge in the room!!

Two steps to reception no ramp. Now I'm not disabled but I had cases with wheels. Television very basic and so behind other hotels.
It was reasonable for the price.

The shower curtain in the bathroom had pink marks at the bottom, looks like mould that has been cleaned but not very well . Also the taps could be upgraded as they look very old and untidy. Quite difficult to open and close.
Nice place with big outdoor space.

The hotel was nice however, the restaurant could do with a modernisation, it was a bit too formal for us. Good breakfast although, would have been nice to have had a variety of hot drinks, the croissants did not taste fresh maybe from the day before? We stayed in the delux room on the ground floor , it was very comfortable and clean however, when the curtains were open, we felt people could see us in hence we had to keep them closed half way.
Staff were pleasant. Nice location.

I stayed in the junior suite. It needs to be updated. Very old furniture. Couch and chairs had stains. I wanted to have a bath but the bottom of the bath didn’t look good. Wear and tear throughout bathroom and needs to be updated.

No accessible rooms, shower over the bathtub felt unsafe for my husband who has mobility problems. The reception desk wasn't manned, the customer has to call and wait for someone to attend to them. the hotel seems to be understaffed, one waitress for a whole breakfast room seems unfair, the waitress was run off her feet but performed really well and was very pleasant.
Junior suite was lovely, spacious and comfortable. Decor a bit dated, could do with a spruce up.

Good room for the price paid. Would have been nice to have an extra pillow but just used a cushion under the pillow so not a big issue.
Great location, travelled up from Cornwall to see friends in High Wycombe so this hotel was in a good spot for us. Hotel room was big with a large bathroom. Beds were comfy and check in/out was efficient.

The shower was a little tricky to navigate. Ended up having a bath the first morning. Worked out the tap - as twisting was very stiff and with wet hands I couldn't manage it initially, but did ok the second day. Water pressure was disappointing- but this was only part which was a low point. Everything else was perfect!
Room was lovely- big, with all amenities. I loved the grounds - was able to go out and walk around - getting my steps in. The breakfast was good. Nice selection.

Family room was massive, plenty of space for the 3 of us. Staff very friendly on reception when we arrived and departed. Set in quiet location but only 5 mins from railway station so ideal for whizzing into London.

Water pressure in shower very low. Lack of air conditioning over a very hot weekend made sleeping a bit uncomfortable- though we appreciate you did what you could with fans.

Room very hot with use of only a small fan. Slight confusion over breakfast times by staff
Nice setting. Stayed in a Deluxe double room with garden view. Lovely spacious and clean. Breakfast was excellent . Would definitely stay again

We disliked the smoking of Hubble bubble pipes in the Indian restaurant /bar attached to the hotel! We were enjoying a nice drink when someone next to us ordered one! My husband suffers with a lung complaint and we weren’t asked if we minded!
