Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomReally can't fault anything, Eleanor has equipped the barn with all that you'd need.
Beautiful barn containing everything you could require, comfortable, clean and quiet, use of a lovely orchard which our energetic little dog Gus loved running around, we also enjoyed relaxing there with a drink and a book and luckily for us the sunshine. Good base for visiting nearby villages/attractions and local walks too.

United KingdomThere is nothing not to like
Everything was amazing, we wanted a few nights away to relax, we couldn't have asked for a nicer place to spend the time. The barn has everything you could ask for the orchard is a lovely space which we really enjoyed in the lovely weather. The host was brilliant, super helpful and friendly. It felt really private. I would highly recommend anyone staying here. It's not far from Bury St Edmunds, we spent a day there and it's a lovely place even if it's just for sitting in the abbey gardens with a coffee and watching the world go by. Our dog loved the barn and the orchard :) the bed was super comfy and it was lovely and clean.

United KingdomWe thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful and relaxing break at the barn. The barn was extremely comfortable with everything we needed. The bed was super comfy and the shower great - large with plenty of hot water. The fully secure attached orchard was bliss. We chilled in the sunshine listening to bird song while the dogs safely explored and played. Thank you Eleanor for allowing us to stay in your lovely barn.

United KingdomWhat a tranquil, beautiful place. The orchard is so pretty with cowslips in flower and bluebells were starting to appear at the end of my stay. Mowed pathways wend their round the trees but my dogs also enjoyed running through the longer grass. Lovely listening to the different birds, The Barn is beautifully equipped and is a welcome haven immediately you step through the door. A real treat. The host Eleanor could not have been more helpful and kind.

United KingdomThere was nothing that I didn't like! To be super picky, the bedside table is too low and getting to the light switch can be painful!!
The location was peaceful and beautiful, away from any major roads but easy to access. Everything in the barn was of a very high quality, the kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom clean and modern.

United KingdomThe location was superb. It provides a peace and tranquility within glorious meadow surroundings. It is also wonderful for walks, particularly for us, with our 3yr Labrador who has boundless energy levels. Eleanor welcomed us heartedly, and with a sense of making sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We never felt intruded upon, even though the Barn is within proximity to the main house. The accommodation provided us with everything we needed for our stay, even certain provisions we didn't need to have brought along such as tea/coffee, which were stored in the cupboard. There is also the bonus of some extremely lovely places to visit for days out in the surrounding area. Truly wonderful. What a gem. Thankyou again for a lovely stay, we look forward to our next visit.

United KingdomThe bedroom is located on a very compact mezzanine, and there isn't anywhere to store clothes or luggage, etc. We stored our suitcase downstairs & got changed in the bathroom. I plugged the hairdryer & hair straighteners into sockets located in the kitchen, with the bathroom door open so I could see the mirror! There isn't anywhere else suitable in the barn. Perhaps this could be addressed. A safety gate for the stairs would be useful, but we used a couple of chairs to block off access so the dogs couldn't get upstairs. A motion sensitive light by the key press would be helpful too - it was dark when we arrived! All minor issues, though and can be worked around.
Loved the location, not only in terms of proximity to Haverhill (to visit family) but where the barn is situated - truly idyllic! It looked incredible in December, let alone come Spring/Summer! The grounds and surrounding area are stunning. Despite being a compact barn, it is well equipped; the open plan living space and bathroom were clearly thoughtfully planned when the interior was designed. The bed is really comfortable. Ideal for a couple of nights away. Super dog friendly! The private orchard was fantastic! Our dogs had a great time investigating! Fantastic comms from the owner, really friendly and informative! Despite the couple of minor issues mentioned, we would definitely stay again!
