Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Nothing. Though maybe a larger bin in the kitchen which allowed for recycling as well and a clothes airer would have been useful.
Fantastic location especially as we were on a golfing holiday. Also close to beach and places to eat. Comfy, large bed. Well kitted out with everything we needed. Nicely presented. Lots of hot water. Free WiFi, great TV and ample parking. David was communicative and responded quickly.

The flat being ground floor opening out onto the garden via the french doors was a wonderful way to spend our 3 warm summer evenings. Perfectly appointed in every way. The beds are super comfy Perfect location for exploring everything Ayrshire. We booked a Calmac ferry to Arran out of Troon harbour just 10mins up the road for a day trip. Explored Culzean Castle about half an hour south. Don't let the location of the nearby airport or rail line put you off. The flight paths don't go over the flats, and you can't hear the trains. Peace and quiet of the golf course across the road and sea at the end of the road with its esplanade and sunsets to die for. David made us feel so welcome and had some fantastic recommendations for local restaurants and pubs, and the fine food they serve.

I was with two elderly parents who found the furniture, beds and toilets too low. We managed, but some better quality sofas, with higher seats and backs and slightly higher beds would have been better.
The location of the flat couldn't have been better , only a 5 min walk to the beach and the main street. The view over the golf course was wonderful. In terms of the flat it was very clean and had everything you needed to stay for 1 night or a whole week. The bed linen was good quality and the towels large and fluffy, which was a bonus.

This apartment is really lovely. It’s just minutes from the train station and Main Street. It has an open view over the golf course and a minute from the beach. The beds are extremely comfortable and the apartment is very quiet. Communication from host was excellent and accessing the apartment was very easy. A great place to stay.

Nothing everything was great, an option of twin beds would enhance the property further for 4 guys staying together but it didn’t put us off.

Very, very small comments, but hopefully simply for feedback. One of the keys was a bit stiff, some lamps were missing light bulbs and the shower in the main bathroom was quite short (I'm 6' 2" and had to duck to use it). Otherwise, absolutely perfect.
Location was first class, as was the cleanliness and presentation of the accommodation. Easy communication and David allowed us an extra hour on the last day to suit a tee time at Prestwick - great flexibility. Would highly recommend.

No coffee maker so we bought a French Press and left it in the unit for future coffee drinking guests.
We were there strictly for golf. The Location was great for us due to we were golfing at Prestwick. If you wanted to golf courses in the Troon area, the drive was about 15 minutes with no traffic. It was nice and quiet in the neighborhood and we felt very safe there.

Only that the shower was not at all powerful and we struggled finding the cutlery drawer but eventually realised it was a hidden drawer inside a pan drawer.
Located a minute from the beach with lovely views out across the golf course. Spotlessly clean apartment, good parking in front of the building and behind. No concerns :)

The Appartment had been set up and equipped with all you could need for a excellent comfortable stay. we really enjoyed our time at the Appartment, I was able to cook very easy with the equipment provided, thank you. Some instructions on how to work the heating would be useful as it was difficult to control when the radiators were off an on. Also, the shower water pressure is very low which was a challenge for the girls washing their hair.
Apartment is very well furnished and has all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay.
