How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Car park a little tricky to find Double bed is very small, get a king if you can Building a little tired but it adds to the charm
Loved the convenient position, in the heart of Stirling. Breakfast is smashing, full cooked breakfast, croissants, fruit, cereal etc. Lots to choose from. Good restaurant and bar

Room size was quite small , would stay again but ask for lower floor and front of hotel .(no Wi-Fi after 2nd floor )

Our room smelled musty and the bathroom wasn’t tidy. We were there for 3 nights and the room was uncomfortably warm in the morning, even with a fan and the window open. The front desk wasn’t very friendly and there was minimal help offered when I asked for assistance.
Convenient to Stirling downtown, with old historic charm.

The rooms and hotel is very dated, minging carpets. Shower you either had to have freezing cold or hot there was no in-between
The location was really good, the food (menu could have more choice) but breakfast was nice and enough choices. Staff were also really good very chatty and helpful couldnt fault them. The rooms were spotless and after a change of room was very spacious.

The bed was not comfortable
Great location, walking distance to all attractions. Super nice with the free parking (just a little hard to find it, as we arrived when it was dark out). Nice breakfast selection

Tired look especially when coming from car park to reception. The bar particularly needs renovated....carpets very worn and lots of chairs had ripped upholstery.

Booking.com took my booking. When I got there the rooms were full and 2 other couples were in the same situation. The manager eventually sorted us out rooms. Not ideal But handled well by Duty manager

Everything was great but the room was pretty warm. Problem easily fixed by opening the windows
Beautiful architecture, incredible building and such an overall very elegant place. The hotel was super central, with a great price and the breakfast was even included. Thanks to the super friendly staff too

Poor access to reception from car park, lift not always working. Only one member of staff on reception for check in made the process very slow in an extremely hot reception area, why was the heating on in the middle of August?!?

Entrance from car park leaves a lot to be desired. Our room had broken window and towel rail in bathroom hanging off wall. We requested a fan for the room which on first night was like a sauna but no luck. Breakfast on second morning was terrible. The only thing hot was the coffee and the toast.
Location wise not a problem we have stayed there several times.

There is hotel parking available, but if there isn't sufficient space, then the only other option is to park on the street (time limits and fines apply). Despite this, it's still a great establishment in a good location.
Great location in the center of town and easily accessible to all local amenities. I failed to find out the history of this hotel/building, but it is a great hotel, with bar and restaurant facilities on-site and really has a 'homely/comforting' feeling about it. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Fan in bathroom did not work and black mould on ceiling. Parking limited and difficult.
