Beautiful setting in a peaceful area of the Lake District. Hotel was clean and spacious with plenty of rest areas inside and out. Receptionist had a good sense of humour and made us feel very welcome.

The dinner isn't served until 7:30pm which is way too late for me after I've been out in the mountains all day.

The location is great, right in the middle of Borrowdale valley. The hotel was incredibly comfortable with a great buffet breakfast served from 7:45am (when I was booking in saw people complain that breakfast started too late but as it was a buffet breakfast 7:45am allowed us to be out the door by 8:30am). The lounge was a nice bonus giving us somewhere to relax in the evening

After spending the previous night elsewhere for a slightly lower (yet still high) price and in terrible conditions, it was such a pleasant surprise to arrive at Glaramara. The standard was excellent — we were given a ground floor room with a huge bed. The room was clean, and the bedding was changed after the first night, even though we were only staying for two nights. The bathroom was spotless and had everything we needed. The hotel itself is beautiful, the food was absolutely delicious, and everything was just right for us. It's only a stone’s throw from Honister Pass, which was exactly what we were looking for. I highly recommend this place and will definitely return.

Absolutely nothing. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

The location, though a bit off the Cumbria Way which we were hiking, was beautiful and it would be worth a visit back just to stay in that valley. We were hesitant to book the dinner, but in the end we did and were so glad to have done so. The dining room offered the flexibility of one, two or three courses. We were tired so we only wanted the one. It was absolutely fabulous. What's more, though we didn't go for dessert, coffee and delicious homemade chocolates were available in the lounge afterwards.

With really hot weather more common some form of air conditioning in the rooms would make sleeping easier.

A fantastic hotel experience. I booked this for us as part of a trip showing my family from overseas the UK. We came here after 2 days in London and it was the perfect way to decompress and relax after a hectic time in the busy capital. When we arrived the scenery was breath-taking and walking through the main lounge with the real fireplace and comfortable, stylish furnishings we knew we made the right choice for a hotel. The rooms we booked were lovely and clean, our room had a beautiful view and the comfiest hotel bed we have slept in. The staff were friendly and approachable, they managed to provide a high end hotel experience without us feeling we were out of place with their friendly attitude. One of the waiting staff even offered to take a group photo of us when she saw my Grandfather attempting to take one which was lovely. The 3 course evening meal was fantastic and well presented and the bar had some lovely drinks options which were added to by the charming pub a 5 minute walk away in the nearby village. We all had a lovely time and I had to drag my husband away so we could check out and explore the Lakes! We are already planning to return and bring my in-laws with us. This is the best hotel I have stayed in so far, huge thanks to all involved.
