Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomVery spacious and nicely furnished cottage. We loved the skylight over the shower/bath and the attention to detail from the host such as leaving cereal, milk and fruit juice for us. The neighbouring cows and calves were a highlight for us too :)

United KingdomI thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The place was perfectly quaint and quiet, just what I was looking for. It had everything you'd need for a short visit, but it would also be ideal for a longer stay. The nearby towns are charming and worth exploring, and there are some lovely walks not too far away. It was so peaceful, and the coffees, milk and little extras that Peter left were thoughtful. The little touches and amenities that made the stay even better. I'd absolutely stay again!

United KingdomBed was a little hard - might you think about adding a mattress topper?
Brilliant cottage for a stopover on the way back from Scotland to southern England. Easy to find and easy to park , though the pub next door was closed the night we stayed over. Very peaceful, but it might be noisier when the pub is open. Nice kitchen downstairs, all the other rooms upstairs. Small but lovely lounge which was cosy and comfortable with lovely views of farmland. Host had provided milk and breakfast supplies which were unexpected but very welcome. Loved it - and we will hopefully return another time

United KingdomHonestly, nothing! I couldn't find any fault with the cottage and thought it was ideal!
As soon as we got to the property, I was blown away by pretty much everything! I was a little concerned beforehand that it was above a pub, but I heard absolutely nothing and there was no noise from the pub at all. The cottage was beautiful. A very old building but it was decorated beautifully. A massive (fully equipped) kitchen and huge dining table greet you on arrival. With milk, orange juice, tea, coffee and biscuits to get you started. We were tired after a long drive so ordered dinner from The Pheasant and they were so kind as to bring it through to the cottage for us so we could eat at our dining room table. That was a really nice touch. Going upstairs there was a lovely sitting room with windows looking out on to the fields and countryside. A couple of comfy chairs and a comfy couch, with a TV to watch too. Then there was a big bathroom with bath, shower and toilet plus one of the bedrooms was en-suite. Both bedrooms were really nicely decorated with loads of useful storage space. And the beds were very comfortable. There was a thermostat to choose how warm you wanted the place which was really nice as it did get chilly outside overnight. There was also wi-fi in the cottage with a QR code to get you connected quickly. The area around the cottage is magnificent! I went out for a walk along the country lanes and it was so peaceful and quiet with a lot of countryside, farm animals and wildlife to see. I would be back here in a heartbeat and I could not fault the cottage in any way. Absolutely great!

NetherlandsWhat a lovely find! This place is amazing. In the quiet countryside, there is this small inn with a truly wonderful restaurant. We had the best meal of our trip here, and afterwards we could scoot into our rented apartment that was lovely. Would recommend!

United KingdomThe property opens out onto the beer garden, so when the pub is open, it could? Be noisy and not a lot of privacy, the vent from the pub kitchen dripping fat on floor by the front of the door, was really off putting which was a real shame.
Well equipped, clean nicely decorated property with extra’s which were appreciated after a long journey. Dog friendly, we stayed when pub/ restaurant was closed so very quiet.

United KingdomIf the radiator was on a different wall the kitchen would benefit from a small two seater sofa for comfort downstairs. Pubs tables right outside kitchen window but because it was dark in the kitchen needed to keep curtains open. Pub kitchen food vent outside front entrance. Smell of woodsmoke from pub fire in one bedroom.
Proximity to main routes as a stopping off point. Next to pub for meals. Community feel to village. Helpful and friendly staff. Two double bedrooms each with access to own facilities.
