Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo cooked breakfast, although the pastries egg roll fruit & yoghurt good quality. No fresh coffee (only instant Nescafe). Pillows & towels not great & some maintenance issues
Interesting old house very close to the sea and number of restaurants. Not too far from bus & rail stations. Liked the bottled water supplied in room & easy access to more tea, coffee, sugar

CanadaThe stairs up to the room that I occupied are very steep and if you have heavy baggage you should take great care , there is no elevator.
Clean , pleasant and homely. All facilities needed for a comfortable stay. Breakfast is pre ordered and is a light type , no cooked food, there is a downstairs dining room or one can have the meal delivered for a specific time , to eat in the room. There are coffee and tea facilities in the room.

United KingdomFor me everything was excellent, except the bed was sagged, but for sure if I'd stay longer the owners would resolve the situation.
The kindness of the owners. They helped me and made it easier for my early arrival. The facilities are clean and good. I highly recommend this place.

NetherlandsIt seems all accommodation in Penzance is very expensive, so this was the best deal. It was lovely to get a packed breakfast, though I'm a big lad and could have eaten quite a lot more :)
Really lovely hotel on a beautiful street right next to the stunning Morrab Gardens, and a nice small walk into town. Perfect for a few days stay. I hadn't been back to Penzance since I lived there 30 years ago so was very happy to have this as a base to go out exploring memory lanes.

GermanyA lot of waste was generated at breakfast, as everything (fruit salad, yogurt, milk, cereals, etc.) was repackaged as individual portions in plastic containers.
The room was large and comfortably furnished, and the bed was very comfortable. Plenty of storage space, including in the bathroom. Breakfast was okay, though filter coffee would have been nice. The Landlady was very nice!

United KingdomWhilst the garden flowers were absolutely beautiful, it was sad to see such a messy path with dead bamboo leaves. Stairs to the top floor are steep, but this is made clear. In artificial light it is clear that the carpet in room 7 is very soiled. A bedside rug would improve the look of the room after cleaning the carpet as well as possible. I personally don't mind assorted unmatched old items of furniture; but I will never be happy with self check-ins at establishments.Perhaps at 78 I'm too old-fashioned!
Beautiful building in a quiet road, near lovely Penlee Park and not far from sea front. I was happy with the breakfast in carrier bag as was able to use dining room to eat, and the savoury filled rolls were delicious, bread and viennoiserie of excellent quality. Enjoyed chatting with Nong, who was charming, well worth the effort to understand. My single bed in Room 7 was very comfortable with foam mattress, and ideal for my spinal injury from many years ago, which I always have to mention before I stay away.

United KingdomWhen we arrived, the bell on the desk didn't seem to work, and we couldn't find any staff, so we went for a walk until we could self check in at 15:00. Our room was clean in every other way, but it was very dusty, and the inside of the drawers smelt quite musty.
The house was beautifully presented and the garden had lots of nice plants and a pond with koi karp. Our room was comfortable, and had all the amenities we needed. There was a form in our room for breakfast the next day, there was a wide variety of choices, you had the option to have breakfast brought to your door in the morning or to have it in the dining area. It's very close to the sea front, and has some beautiful parks near by. When we interacted with the staff, they were very friendly.

SpainReally difficult to point at anything in particular. We stayed for 8 nights in the middle of June and were a bit unlucky with the weather and the humidity, But I could hardly blame the owners ,could I??
A cozy small family hotel with an excellent location, a very helpful and charming couple who had lots of great advice and who prepared a healthy tasty breakfast and who always ready to have the occational chat. The quaint little hotel surprised me every day with an abundance of objects/curiosa from times past and a strong Asian influence. .And the little garden with a great variety of flowers and plants. Conclusion: A perfect place to stay.

United KingdomSomeone to carry my case up and down would have helped greatly.
Dear little room under the eaves with a sea view, but rather cramped. And I had difficulty carrying my case up the very steep stairs. Wide choice for breakfast, including a filled roll which did for a packed lunch. Near the sea, the gardens and museums, and walking distance from the centre of town, so very convenient.

United KingdomSteep stairs, not a problem for us as we are young and mobile but could be hard for older guests. We had an attic room which was comfortable albeit dated, and the bathroom had no / v minimal ventilation so there was a burgeoning mould in there.
Gorgeous house with a lot of history. Well situated, short walk to the ocean. Breakfasts were so generous, we ate well. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
