How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Greeted with a lovely warm welcome by liz.was shown the breakfast room which was fantastic with memorabilia from the past and heartbeat which Steve has collected over the years.Taken to our room which was fabulous 🙂 great size and finished to a very high quality . Breakfast was excellent and served with a smile. Overall had a brilliant time and Liz and Steve are to be commended for their homely and friendly ambience. We can't wait to go back. So if you're looking for a quality place to stay give Englefield guesthouse a try 👏 You will not be disappointed.

Not a thing.
Bed was super king and super comfy. Ground floor bedroom spacious. Breakfast was home cooked and filling. Liz and Steve couldn't have been more helpful

No shower attachment to wash my hair but hey no probs I improvise.
Breakfast & breakfast room were spacious with lovely decor & views. Host & Hostess lovely friendly welcoming couple. Bedroom was layed out great with lots of space comfy seating, plenty of storage units & tea coffee faclities.

Hosts Liz and Steve were excellent hosts. Very friendly and accomadating. Breakfast was delicious and the breakfast room bright and welcoming. Room very large and immaculately clean.

We loved everything
Beautiful guest house 🏡 Liz is an amazing host & the cooked breakfast is delicious. We stayed in blaketon & the bed was so comfy. Would definitely recommend & we will definitely be staying again. Kelly & Andy batty

That we couldn't stay longer!
Perfect location, room was so clean and spacious and spa bath was a lovely surprise. Breakfast was lovely the next morning. Great Communication from owners, look forward to staying again.

Beautiful house run as a traditional B&B by host Liz, who is lovely. Very comfortable and luxurious feel throughout. Many collectables to admire throughout the property.

A fantastic B&B. Great hosts in Liz and Steve, who made us feel so welcome. We loved the quirky ornamental items around the place and would definitely stay here again.

I had to ask around the village to find it :-D, might need a bigger sign!
I was on a 2 day cycling trip so this was perfect for me. Safe bike storage, a super comfy bed, great breakfast, really helpful owners, just what I needed.

The room was fantastic with a comfortable super king bed. Spacious bathroom across the hall. Breakfast was served by the owner and was excellent quality with vegetarian options for my wife. The owners are a fantastic couple who really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The property is decorated with an array of interesting memorabilia which starts conversations with fellow guests.

The location is beautiful right in the middle of HeartBeat country. With sheep all around you and a real Yorkshire welcome. The breakfast was excellent and the views from the guest dining room fill your soul. Lovely hosts and enjoyed talking with them about their beautiful guest house they run. The room was spotless and the hosts have produced comfortable rooms that made us feel so relaxed and had a wonderful nights sleep.
