A set price menu option for lunch or dinner - it's not cheap and the food is good but I would have dined every night had it been better value for money. Shower wasn't great in our room - scalding or cold and not powerful. Garden furniture could be stained / tidied up a bit - some areas are just a little tired. None of this impacted the overall enjoyment of our stay.

Lovely setting, very tranquil, pretty garden area, stunning views, great walks from your doorstep, welcoming staff, not too large a Hotel, nice rooms, bar and dining room also very nice. Special thank you to all the staff who looked after us especially Charlie who served us at dinner - he was excellent. Sunday dinner was fabulous and breakfast also delicious We would stay again and recommend.

Peaceful location in a stunning area. The hotel decor suited this beautiful old building with its original features. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and nothing too much trouble. The food was delicious with good sized portions. We hope to come again often.

Our room only had a bath, no shower, with a low beam over the bath. This made getting in and out quite hazardous.

Being picky but one insipid teabag for a large pot of tea at breakfast. Swap to Yorkshire tea!

Room was amazing, the location excellent. The views over the lake were just wonderful, it was great to sit and watch nature in action. Lovely relaxing break would return.

Very difficult to turn on the shower & the 'green' toiletries from China were a first!

The hotel is beautifully situated overlooking Elterwater. The staff all top class and looked after us really well. The ensuite bedroom was a good size and we had 3 nights excellent sleep. The room was comfortably furnished with plenty of storage space. The meals were of a high standard and much enjoyed. The restaurant was spacious and the lounges around the hotel much appreciated. The garden was a good size and patrolled by numerous Peacocks! A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Lovely setting in the lakes, great views. Hotel staff were very friendly. Room was clean and spacious. Very good evening meal and breakfast, vegetarian food was really good and much better than a lot of English hotels that I have experienced.

Rigid about check in time. Arrived half an hour early and wouldn't let us check in...even though we didn't want room yet and just wanted to complete paperwork. Small evening menu. Poor quality tea and coffee.

The gardens have great unrealised potential. The seating away from the top garden was dilapidated.

Beautiful, gracious inn with lovely interior spaces that makes you want to stay for a full week. The rooms were spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable with lovely ambience. Several sitting rooms and spaces afford stunning views and comfortable places to rest when not exploring the Lake District. Staff was friendly and attentively helpful. Breakfast was excellent.

It was rated 4stars that is why we booked it. It definitely was not 4stars we were very dissatisfied on the room we were allocated. This was up in the attic the bathroom was so small that the wash hand basin was in the room. Not hygienic!

Wi fi didn’t work. But I do think this was a temporary problem only for a day or two while I was there Use the ear plugs birds outside are very noisey
