Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIf I have to say I didn’t like something it would be that this time the veggie breakfast wasn’t as enjoyable as before. The sausages were a type of spicy hotdog (we both love spice but not for brekkie, spoilt the taste of everything else). Apart from that there was lots of choice on the menu, plus a delicious help yourself continental breakfast table, so we certainly didn’t starve!
We’ve stayed here before and loved it. This time didn’t disappoint. The staff are lovely and welcoming, friendly but not over familiar. The actual property is very tastefully decorated with a touch of luxury.

United KingdomBreakfasts were a touch noisy, and the buffet selction very limited. The bar got very busy on Saturday lunchtime and evening when two parties converged - an no extra staff meant slow service. In fact one of the bar staff was rather short with me. Given its name I thought the wine list was limited, though loved the Sussex fizz!
A centrally located, classy hotel with a lovely atmosphere and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and approachable on the whole. They made me feel very welcome. I loved the old fashioned charm, delightful menu and lovely suntrap of a courtyard to sip fizz in. Sunday lunch is fab!

United KingdomAll minor points - poor pillows - toilet seat wobbly - outside light shining into bedroom at night couldn’t be turned off - food quality not as good as many stays over the years
Superb stay - reception and restaurant staff exceptional - decent room - relaxing setting - a rare spot in busy Brighton where the hotel really delivers

United KingdomNot much at all, if I had to say anything the dinner I had was lovely but more choice for people that don’t particularly like that sort of food, but I’m just being picky tbh.
The hotel is very beautiful some parts has history which I love, very clean, staff could not have been more helpful, the room was high standard and very comfortable had everything you needed, overall a great place would definitely revisit.

Fabulous hotel in a great location of Brighton! This was our first trip to Brighton as a little family to celebrate my 30th birthday and we’re so pleased we chose to stay at Hotel Du Vin; the hotel itself is really beautiful (inside and out), and well laid out. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating in every aspect. We stayed in the Swiss Wine room which was well decorated, with good facilities provided, very clean and very comfortable! We all slept so well (The air con was an absolute plus on this front as I tend to feel the heat very quickly, so this was a very welcomed addition to the room!). The hotel staff also ensured we had a travel cot prepared in the room; already made up with sheets and a little duvet, as well as a changing mat and purpose nappy bin readily available in the room which was very handy! The bathroom was fabulous with a large comfortable bath and shower; plenty of towels provided and lovely toiletries too - couldn’t have wanted anything more. The location is a pebbles throw from the beach and within easy walking distance to local shops, bars, cafes, etc. There is a restaurant within the hotel which unfortunately we didn’t get to try, however the menu looked fabulous. A little pricey but it was to be expected with its location and the hotel itself being so well maintained and managed; we just chose to eat elsewhere as we were exploring the local area. Overall a fabulous stay and we would love to come back to visit again.

United KingdomAlthough the bathroom was clean and stocked with lovely L’Occitane toiletries, we did run into a couple of issues: 1) The toilet flush didn’t work consistently; 2) The shower temperature was difficult to control — the water was extremely hot, and the mixer felt loose, which may have been the cause. When we reported these problems the next morning, the hotel responded promptly, changing our room and even giving us an upgrade. Everything worked perfectly in the new room.
Every staff member, from reception to the restaurant, greeted us with exceptional warmth and friendliness, genuinely making us feel welcomed. The breakfast we enjoyed was of top-quality. The toiletries used are L'Occitane. Additionally, the hotel’s location is very convenient, situated comfortably between Brighton Pier and the i360 Tower.

United KingdomThe room was a bit small with no desk area or a chair to make it a bit more comfortable. There was also nowhere to put on makeup and no full length mirror. Was a bit expensive for the room
Loved just about everything. The hotel had a really nice lounge with other areas to sit, inside and outside, including an enclosed roof area. The restaurant is also very good with lovely food and a high level of service. All the staff are lovely and very welcoming.

I booked last minute and alone. The receptionist who greeted me was lovely and welcoming. All the staff that I met were the same. My room was large and spotlessly clean. The bathroom exceptional, very large with both shower and roll top bath. Location also perfect for Brighton. I highly recommend this hotel. Many thanks. Marlon.

United KingdomI liked the overall appearance. But there wasn’t a lift. We were on the second floor and I struggled with the stairs as I have a bad knee.
It was well decorated in the style I like. We had a suite with a sea view and two free standing baths. However the baths, I noticed once I had started running them, had dirty rings round the sides of BOTH of them. I did tell the receptionists discretely and would have left it there but they were indifferent. I suggested they mention it to housekeeping which one of the receptionists acknowledged
