How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Jamie and Heather were great hosts and kept the place very clean and pleasant. Breakfast spread daily were great. Superb location as well. Bonus was Jamie’s knowledge of the area as an experienced guide! Would 100% recommend and return, next time to book a tour with him! Thank you both for the lovely stay!

We loved staying here. Our hosts were great and made us feel very welcome. Our room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was delicious. The area was quiet but just a short walk to the centre of town and the bus and train stations.

Heating was on for a short time in the morning which in July 🥵seems quite a waste

Jamie was such an attentive and kind host. He was so generous with his time and knowledge, we were so grateful for him for all of the information he gave us about the surrounds and what to do in the area. Would definitely be back if we head to Inverness again!

No living room area to sit at other than bedroom or to chairs in the dining area. No availability of a warm breakfast. ( Eggs).
Home owners were very helpful and friendly. Would return if ever in Inverness again.

Great location just a few minutes walk into Inverness, room was super clean, bed was exceptionally comfortable, great breakfast selection of cereals, toast, fresh fruits, and pastries and Jamie and Heather were an absolute delight! Highly recommended!

The Doric is very clean, comfortable & located in a convenient area. Jamie is an incredible host. His hospitality & helpfulness was amazing & very much appreciated. Continental breakfast each morning was delicious, especially the cheese & fruit. Highly recommend The Doric!

We had a really nice stay at Jamie's and Heather's house. We really loved the breakfast, with lots of choices and local products. The room was comfortable We really appreciated all the tips from our hosts. Thank you again for your warm welcome ! :)

I truly can't fault my stay here! The location was perfect, Jamie (& his lovely family - Heather and kids) were the perfect hosts, and we had everything we needed for the whole stay. Breakfast was perfect, a small continental full of choice (I'm going to miss the 3 berries jam) The room was comfortable, clean, and the perfect size for our five night stay. The shower was AMAZING - I wish I could of stayed in there all day lol. I genuinely wish I could move in here! My whole experience in Inverness is one to remember, and I'm so fortunate that I got to stay at Doric House, and I really hope to stay here in the future 💙 Keep up the fabulous work, missing it already 🥺 K & D xx

Great house close to the town centre. Many thanks to Jamie and his wife. They were very hospitable and Jamie was very knowledgeable on the local area and gave us great locations to visit on our way up from Edinburgh and whilst we stayed at the house. The stay was the final leg of our European holiday and the best part.

We wouldn’t change a thing.
Our stay at Doric House in Inverness was everything we hoped for and more. From the moment we arrived, Jamie, our host, made us feel incredibly welcome. He was not only kind and attentive but also a wonderful source of local knowledge—happy to share tips, stories, and suggestions that made our visit even more memorable. Our room was clean, cozy, and very comfortable, and each morning we enjoyed a fresh, ample breakfast that set us up perfectly for the day. The neighborhood felt safe and peaceful, and we never hesitated to take a stroll, even after dark. One of the biggest perks was the location—just a short 5 to 10 minute walk to the city center, where we had easy access to shops, restaurants, tour pick-up points, and the train station. It made everything incredibly convenient. We originally chose Doric House based on glowing reviews, and I’m so happy to add my own to the list. It didn’t feel like staying at a B&B—it felt like visiting a favorite uncle’s home. If you’re headed to Inverness, this is the place to stay!

Great location and very friendly and helpful host. The guesthouse is in a quiet neighborhood so you can rest, but is a short walk to the downtown area for restaurants and pubs. Our host, Jaime, gave us some great ideas of things to see in the area and was very friendly.

The shower controls were a bit hard to figure out for a simple person such as myself.
Jamie and Heather were amazing hosts. They gave great advice about things to do and directions in Inverness. The room was clean and comfortable and their house is very cozy. We truly felt like welcome guests.
