Recently we have found that some of the hotel is looking a little run down and in need of a spruce up. Also we were disappointed to find that the restaurant menu had changed as I always looked forward to the amazing chicken Masala they used to serve and my Coeliac wife had a nice selection of GF meals to choose from. Small point I know, but these things make a difference to us and where we stay. The biggest disappointment was not really the fault of the hotel. My wife has mobility issues and cannot walk up the hill from the seafront so we rely on the funicular lift close to the hotel to get us up and down especially on an evening when going out for a meal. We were shocked to find that on the Saturday night we were there it stopped operating at 5pm. This is no good for us and we will need to find a different location to stay in Scarborough in the future

My wife and I come to this hotel quite regularly mainly because of the location and also the relaxing bar area. Plus the rooms are always very spacious

Poor selection of beer , poor evening meal menu, the taps for the bath very difficult to use so unable to have a bath

Room was comfortable and warm and clean , breakfast was good, poor menu for evening meal . There was very little finesse . Pool was nice , the jet pool was warm but the chlorine was over powering and made my eyes sore

On 2 occasions we did not have hot water for a shower, we had to go and tell reception. Additionally, the key cards were very sensitive and we had to keep going down to reception to re-config them. It wasn't only me that kept doing this. There were a few more people that had this issue.

I like the spa and pool. The location was amazing. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. Would definitely go again!

A little dated in areas especially the spa but to be expected from an old hotel. The sea view rooms were lovely however with the very high temperatures and the sun shining in be prepared for them to be very warm.

Lovely hotel. We had such a lovely stay, facilities brilliant. The food in the restaurant was lovely. Special mention to the young bar man making the cocktails, credit to the hotel.

There was one lady in the reception that wasn't very polite when I approached to get my key and that surprised me because she was super nice and helpful with the previous guests that were before me.

The bed was supper comfy and the facilities (gym and pool) were great! Also the bar and restaurant staff were brilliant, attentive and friendly. We will definitely come back 😊

I had no hot water for 2 out of 4 days which was tried to be rectified by a very well mannered and experienced maintenance worker to no avail but was managed by the use of the spa and another room on the final day with full apology from again excellent staff Parking is hit and miss outside with permit and no clear direction to use permit in other streets meaning could be driving round one way system some time until space becomes available. There is private parking but this is expensive per night even to guests

Easy to find location with stunning sea views. Large airy room although a little tired furniture was exceptionally clean. Good facilities with bar/eating area and spa all well run by excellent and friendly staff. Breakfast was good offering full English and continental and ample seating.

The water temperature in the room was boiling and was too hot to wash hands with the hot tap in the sink. The staff on the bar didn’t seem to have a clue what they were doing although not sure if they were new staff. The state of the room and the whole hotel (decor etc) could have been better so I would rate this 3 star, not 4 star. The car park price per night (£15) is ridiculous and no prior warning of how much it cost before checking in, so if you were here for more than a few days it would cost a lot extra.

The location was great for both the seafront and the town centre. Easily accessible from the main road. The room was clean and the bed was very comfy. The breakfast was also lovely, with both cooked and continental options available every morning.

Pool was a bit small and the sauna was not near it you had to go through to another area to use it. No sunbeds or chairs to sit around the pool either. If you wanted a drink or snack again u had to get out the pool get dressed and go to the main hotel bar area.

Breakfast was good nice choice of items. The location was great easy to access all Scarborough had to offer and to visit other places locally.

Our family suite was a double room and a much smaller room with two camp beds in it. The rooms were too hot.

The room was dirty. There were biscuit wrappers under the bedside table, cup marks, tea splashes, dusty corners and watermarks in the bathroom. It didn’t look like it had been properly cleaned for a while and housekeepers had just made the bed fresh. Breakfast food was average and the coffee undrinkable

The spa swimming pool is great could do with more chairs round the pool only 2 also was a bit disappointed in the price of the full massage
