There could have been better attention to dietary requirements. With all the availability now of cereals and breads, the breakfast menu fell a bit short of variety and quality for gluten free guests.

The ambience of the hotel was very nice and the staff were all most welcoming. We enjoyed seeing the same members of staff during our stay. Our room felt more personal than most hotel rooms and we liked being able to access the patio immediately from the room. The grounds were lovely and we had an excellent meal at the Cider House Restaurant one evening and a delicious Sunday lunch.

Fridge on the carpet??!! Very diff to open the door And it was not on when I arrived. Long wait to check in as only one staff member and he was on phone Didn’t realise room was in the roof - to open upper windows I would need a chair and there wasn’t one No grab rail on shower wall Hot water took a long time to come through Strange you could not ring from room to reception after hours but would have to get up and go and ring the hotel door Need to light the path to the pizza place Why have I received 11 emails regarding my booking (several duplicated) filling up my inbox? Could not get WiFi even after I had signed up

Location Risotto was delicious Waiting staff attentive

The room carpet was stained in several places and needed a general clean up. The location is great only if you have a car and avoid peak times, otherwise it is difficult to access unless you pay for an expensive taxi if you can get one! I couldn't as non were available so took the bus that stops near the Hotel but I found it not to be a good option because the walk from either the local bus stops is very dangerous. The road side verges are all overgrown or non existent and there are bends so you have to keep crossing the road to be seen in the stretch of road between the bus stops either side of the hotel. I was at least advised by the driver of the bus that dropped me off that the drivers often can't see you at the two nearest stops to the Hotel, so to take great care. It verge walk really was scary with a lot of wide large farm vehicles on that road who did not slow down as they passed by. Sadly you can't get to the various public country or waterways footpaths that head to the beaches without several points of the walk/cycle being on this or another busy road route, though there are several other lovely walks nearby. If you do arrive by car, note traffic jams occur commonly on the route to the hotel due to it being the beach and good walks run and in peak rush hours times.

The staff are friendly and polite. The room layout worked, nice decor and good ventilation options. The bed and bedding were amazingly comfortable and clean, and the room was a good size and quiet enough. I slept well. The bathroom was a lovely size too with a good shower over a great bath (which was very comfortable to relax in) and the towels were a nice quality. Casual diner - bar meal option was offered as a late booker, was tasty, and the seating and table was nicely set up for me - thank you. Once you get to the Itchenor/West wittering areas walking is good.

Clean, comfortable room. Lovely big bathtub. Delicious food at the on-site restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. Plenty of parking available. Stayed there on a very hot evening so the in-room fan was appreciated.

Staff were on the whole good but a bit erratic with service in the restaurant especially on Saturday forgetting drinks orders, muddling meal bills. V polite and keen but disorganised.

Lovely grounds restaurant and terraces. Food was superb so has a great chef. Happy hour cocktails great fun.

Very noisy due to road noise. Less noisy from premium rooms in main courtyard. But no air con means in the summer, having the windows open. And it’s adjacent to farmland so a bonfire smell was in the room for a while. Gravel car park also noisy. Disappointingly a minor toiletry item was left in the first room I stayed in room 27. And when I checked out I asked for access to the room to retrieve it but it was missing. Housekeeping stated there was no item in there when they had inspected the room. But it had obviously been thrown away. So don’t leave anything behind. As their lost property system is not very robust.

Lovely boutique feel inside the hotel bar and restaurant and lovely gardens. Gravel car park with two BP pulse EV chargers. Varying levels of comfort between rooms. I had made a last minute booking with booking.com and was allocated a small double bed room. (Room 27) The room was stiflingly hot with no air con or fan provided. The room was dated but cosy. (See photos) Room was in original building above the bar and immediately adjacent to busy main road. However there was a plumbing fault meaning hot water out of cold taps shower / bath and sink. And super hot out of hot taps. Staff were friendly and I was moved to an adjacent room (28) which had a four poster bed and was more luxurious but also had the same hot water issue. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful and apologised and I was moved to a different room (24) with an amazingly comfortable king size bed. And jacuzzi bath but no stand up shower. But the room did have a really good fan. And roof velux windows.

Couldn’t get bedside lights to work but couldn’t be bothered to ask Housekeeping. TV was a bit temperamental - it seemed to periodically revert to ITV3. Hospitality tray perhaps a little basic. I would prefer not to be in a room under a staircase next time.

Relaxed environment; friendly staff; gorgeous food; great bar area; comfy bed & pillows; brilliant shower; lovely outlook from the room.
