Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing to complain about, except when they are busy table service can be a bit of a wait sometimes
Lovely old Hotel, was in room 26 which backs onto the garden, it was like a little apartment with your own front door, the bed was huge and shower facilities clean. Can't fault the breakfast, plentiful selection, was very tasty, had dinner on one night and there Sunday roast which was delicious and plenty of it. We were there from Friday until Monday and Banbury is a handy base for visits to Warwick, the Cotswolds and Biceter Village. .and would definitely visit again, staff are amazing as well .

United KingdomLots of noise throughout the building, people slamming doors and stomping up and down the corridors. And sadly, The bathroom was very unappealing, the room was redecorated but the bathroom just looked tired and forgotten. The lady working Breakfast as well, seemed to be on her own and we waited almost 40 minutes for our cooked food.
Bed was very comfy, we both had a very good nights sleep. Also, breakfast was very delicious with a good selection.

United KingdomUneven/broken cobbles, no light outside to walk to room outside in evening. Had to ask ask for room to be cleaned on 3rd day (which was done perfectly) apparently due lack of staff. Cooked breakfast not pleasant to eat, lot of frozen cooked food ie sausages Pancakes best choice, old withered fruit at breakfast again no consistency. Lot of dog poo 💩 in garden, found no poo bins. I had 2 dogs and cleaned up after mine. Really needs a gardener regularly very unkept. Needs management to stay to see their issues and support staff.
The fact that I had a ground floor room. Stay were great and helped but not consistent Each day. Room good and clean when arrived . Evening meal good. On early leave on Tuesday chef made pancakes and bacon roll for my son, great touch. Great fresh warm pastries 🥐

United KingdomRoom on top floor, no lift, anyone with mobility issues I would not recommend, we were visiting to meet family so did the job for a 2 day stay, out most of the time only to return for bedtime, old building so does need a lot of work to bring up to standard, scaffolding at back so I take it some work is being done but no workmen there during our stay
Good central location, not far to train station, hotel room very cosy, just pleased it wasn't too hot when we were there as no AC, pleasant staff, good value for money, lovely room looked out to the back garden

United KingdomHad guest join us for breakfast. Seems there was not enough food to go round and the coffee was quite ordinary. Breakfast was not value for money given the tiny slice of toast with avo.
Staff were great. Room was adequate for our needs. Loved the town. Free parking.

United KingdomStairwell areas very tired looking. Room decor dark giving a cold feel (room 11). Bar door was open so felt a bit draughty and chilly whilst eating our evening meal but that's unfortunate as weather not as warm as it had been. Service a little slow at breakfast but the young lad was doing incredibly well as he was on his own and having to deal with a rather difficult couple at the next table. These are just personal.niggles and would not put us off staying again.
Amazingly friendly staff Super comfy bed Great location Tasty food Free parking Room had secondary glazing which was a bonus, as we had a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the fairly busy road.

United KingdomOn the Sunday morning I was woken by the noise from some of the other visitors who played loud music at 7am. I don't hold the hotel responsible for this but it did ruin my lie-in.
The staff were helpful and friendly. The room had everything I needed, including a powerful shower in the bathroom and a very comfy bed. Breakfast was satisfying and the hotel is in a nice location.

United KingdomIt’s an old building so steps in and out of most areas which if less mobile you need to consider. But other than that nothing to dislike.
Staff welcoming and friendly. Liked you could park prior to check in as we wanted to arrive early and look around the town. Room clean and well equipped (fan really appreciated) There was a quiz on which was fab. Requested ground floor room as my Mum has mobility issues (if you need this you must book a double) and this was accommodated. Location fab - cross the road and you are in the town. Great offer on 2 mains and 2 drinks for £27.50 (Mon -Fri) and breakfast there was plenty of choice (warm pastries were delish)

United KingdomIt’s a period property so the floor creaked a little - we soon got used to it! 😂 no Ubers but the local taxi services were very reliable.
We had a huge room which included a sofa bed. The room was clean and comfortable. Loved that they had bottles of water in the room. The bed was comfortable too. We visited Spiceball park which was a 15 minute walk away plus in the evening we got a taxi to the shopping centre - there was a huge M&S, Primark and TK Maxx plus coffee shops. We arrived by train from Banbury - it was just a 15 minute walk to the hotel. We walked by independent shops and eateries on the way. The pub and food were nice and the staff were incredibly friendly.
