Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe hotel is old but has character - some of the furnishings were a little tired but there was a bit of a cleanliness problem with grubby banisters, doors and lightswitches. Also we had a few cobwebs in our room.
The food at this hotel is amazing both breakfast and evening meal. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The location was marvellous and there is so much to do in the area for all abilities.

United KingdomNice room with a spacious bathroom. Staff friendly, welcoming and helpful. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent and service great. The included breakfast was good and the room also had tea/coffee facilities with a kettle and biscuits which was useful. Great private parking and the hotel is only a short walk from Newton Stewart centre.

United KingdomThe attic room was too low for me ,,, my head touched the ceiling easily,,,and the stairs were tricky and tight when carrying a suitcase … not a room for a pensioner but that is all they had…
Evening meal was good and they coped with 2 restaurants and the outside picnic area which was full ,,very well..breakfast was good as well..

United KingdomNothing, everything is great - unfortunately didn't get the amazing lemon pavlova the 2nd night 😢 😅😅 due to a large party who ate it all 🤣🤣. Just have to come back & stay again & hopefully it'll still be on the menu 🥰
Fabulous Hotel, this was our 2nd stay and we will be back. Was even better this time around, staff are really friendly and helpful. As are the locals - great craic in the bar. Lovely play area for the kids with a mini zip line. Food is excellent with lots of choice available. Plenty of parking availble. Can't recommend it enough

United KingdomThis is a comment, not a complaint: it is an old property and some of the fittings are getting rather tired but this did not in any way detract from our enjoyment.
Friendly and attentive staff: reaction to, and treatment of, a confused guest were very impressive. Stornoway black pudding is delicious. The location is quiet and peaceful and the weather was amazing!

NetherlandsA wonderful old hotel close to the bridge going into Newton Stuart. A large pleasant beer garden with equally large play area for the traveler with children. The age of the premises adds to the atmosphere, with wooden floors and nooks and crannies. Beds and bathroom are very good. The restaurant does great food and an excellent breakfast.

United KingdomIf an even is going to be on, we would have liked to know, and adjust our stay. A disco until midnight was extremely loud in the upstairs wing above it. Better soundproofing needed if guests are staying who are not attending the event.
Just a lovely ungentrified place to stay. A place with real character. An excellent location and a good base for many walks in the area. The food is excellent and it's easy to have something ketogenic (low carb, high good fats). The staff are the best.
